You should challenge us T11 users to create your next trick. Tell us what you want and I am sure one of us can create it. Anyone agree?

Meh, its an ok idea. I don't think they have a trick in mind when deciding what to release, I doubt they were saying, "we want an impromptu corner change trick" and got Beleive...you can ask for something but you may not get it, best to see what you can find and not hope for something so specific. If one were to get a lottery ticket, they are probably not hoping for a specific ammount of money, just hopin' for money :D

Excellent idea with a lot of pitfalls associated. Number one and most obvious is that the Theory11 staff can't work closely with the artist to fine-tune the product and film it for a trailer. Second, many forum users don't have effects that they've poured their heart and souls into and have been working on for years. Almost all of the created trick threads start out

"*Insert ridiculous trick that a kid with such abhorrent grammar could never have come up with a method for at all, much less market* and it's impromptu and only has a small gimmick that you already have! PS don't have a webcam and don't ask for any details because I wont answer lol"

And then end up totally abandoned and forgotten. Not to hate on all the kids who have created tricks, but they don't end up as huge of ideas as they think.
And the really talented, creative people who do come up with revolutionary methods or tricks that would prowl these forums usually are not willing to release their beloved effects except for in lecture notes or limited-run PDF's.

In short, good idea, just not plausible.

Magicbox here in the UK did a compition similar, they outlined an effect and asked their mailing list to come up with a solution which would be released at next year's Blackpool convention.

I considered entering and came up with a bloody good method, but when you are given a week to design an effect rather than spend months designing, months refining and performing (if not a few years) I'm not sure how it might turn out, you may get something that looks great on paper, but just isn't that good in real life!!

Sometimes great tricks are created in an instant.

My...ACR, Ribbon Spread Force, Card Transpo, and some others. The ideas hit me, and I come up with a method. Oh look, that's more than one.

Stubborn kid.

This is exactly what Deechristopher was saying.

Good job kiddo, you managed to type 3 tricks 'you came up with'. Now show me your first few performances of them- you know, the ones you didn't have enough practice with, which you're saying is actually fine.

Hey Michael,

We have a great system to where you can submit a trick. All submissions are looked at by Wayne Houchin and the theory11 creative team personally. We are always on the look out for new stuff. If you have something you would like to share, go ahead and submit it. If it is something that suits our style, we will be sure to contact you.

OR...

If you are looking for advice or constructive criticism please feel free to submit it to our media section, as it is updates twice daily. If you have any questions, feel free to PM a mod or crew member and we will be happy to assist you.

Hope this helps.

Kid, yes, right. You should probably ask how old I am before you go throwing around the word "kid."

I'm NOT saying they are fine, bud. I'm saying they are good. And still require practice and tweaking from me to be the best they can be.

As far as performances, the ones I mentioned do work. I have been working on them for the better part of the past year, and tweaking them until I think they are ready to be added to my working repertoire. They get tested on friends and random people to see if they do the job.

meh there probably not good anyway. Who would pay to buy those.

Copperfield, you asked for a trick that is good. My definition of good is does it do its job and let my spectators have a good time. These do. I don't judge them by if they fool magicians, or if other magicians will want to buy them.

I have nothing to prove to two guys who makes assumptions on a web forum.

Thrall, I can totally relate to your idea of methods just coming to you - that happens alot. However, you even said yourself, it takes time to tweak and perfect things, real life performance, study and practice.

Even the simplest of tricks take a lot of work - changing a simple trick into a miracle is what takes the time.

Stigmata is very simple in concept, however the psychology employed, the performance aspect is something that will have taken time to construct, you know?

I feel this discussion is getting a little heated, but alas - welcome to the internet!:P

And I agree 100%. The original post by Michael said that some great ideas are suddenly created. Copperfield asked for one, I named some of mine. I never once said the performance was perfected, I just said the effect was good, and the ideas just happened.

Which is why I was confused that certain people attacked me for answering a question that was asked. And more so, assume that I had the intention to sell them...

Oh well, water under the bridge. Back to the original posters topic.

Great...you thought of ideas that aren't even your own.

None of these "great tricks were created in an instant".
