Card College Books (There are around 5 I think)

Royal Road to Card Magic

Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic

Bobo's Modern Coin Magic (for a little bit of coin magic).

The Trilogy Tricks DVD by Dan and Dave Buck (I love this DVD along with so many others.

Those are pretty much beginner books (except for The Trilogy Tricks) but I don't really know how much you have accomplished in the 15 months. I would also highly recommend buying the tricks DVD of The Trilogy if you are a kind of intermediate magician that is willing to take some time and practice. It is a great DVD and is extremely well done! Best of luck and most of all....Happy Birthday!!!

i own trillogy tricks and dangerous. im intermediate. i would love a book or dvd partaining to cards but also i would like some books that partain to the performing aspect of magic. please keep replying! Thanks!

Expert at the Card Table is a must-have for a card magician. The dvd set is expensive but it makes the book much easier to understand. It has many gambling moves the can be applied to magic and about 15 tricks in the very end.

The Art of Astonishment by Paul Harris
Totally Out of Control (I got this about a month ago and freakin love it!!)
Daniel Garcia Project
DeSouza's Deceptions

In fact topsmagic.com has some great deals on hard to find books like Dai Vernon's Inner Card Trilogy, Revolutionary Card Technique by Ed Marlo and many others. I would check them out!! I personally like to see what inspired the people who inspire me (Dan and Dave, Chris Kenner, Aaron Fisher, Blaine, Daniel Garcia etc...)

Cheers!

I can't believe I totally forgot about The Jinx.

It's got everything. Cards, coins, paper money, mentalism, rope... and it also has a lot of Theo Anneman's essays.

Hello

When I was beginning in card magic I found that Card College Volumes 1-5 were a godsend. I don't know how advanced you are yet but Card College covers a lot of tricks, sleights, moves, etc. It is a very well balanced series and you will find yourself coming back to it for a very very long time. Every skill level is covered in the series. Everything from self working card tricks, to hardcore visual sleight of hand card magic. I hope you get this because I think it's worth it's weight in gold.

Sincerely,
David

just a little side bit: september 1, my 16th birthday, will be one year to the day since my first live performance. i was in st louis at union station (now a mall). i went outside to a restraunt with outdoor seating to sit and just practice. there was live entertainment at this outside eating area- a couple of guys in thier twenties playing jack johnson music. after one song the singer called me up and said he had been watching me practice flourishes and had me come up to the mike and perform. i lead off with the worlds greatest card trick, into the two card monte, and ended with the card switch david blaine did for the cowboys. the audience went nuts!!! my first performance was for twenty some people! looking back now i would say i "jumped head first into the pool" but i guess i could swim. lol. just thought id share.

if you are into performance, I suggest david stone dvd's, Its restaurant magic, but it also has cards, and it has some great tips on presentation hope this can help.

Happy birthay!!!

Paper Engine sounds like a great idea. I personally have not bought it but have heard great things about it.

By forces Unseen.

I heard the content in that book was very hard, maybe not something for someone 15 months in (but then again I don't own the book).

I second (or third...lost count) Totally Out of Control, great book and great material. The book is roughly 1/2 cards and 1/2 coins but some of the coin things you can learn without knowing much about coins and the card material is great.
