People Revealing Tricks on Youtube

Magic books are such a thing of the past which is sad. I notice it everyday at my work, where my students do not want to read anything. They want to be shown.

I have to disagree with this. We just see many uneducated people on communities such as Theory 11 and Ellusionist. People on here recommend books all the time, but many people just wish not to listen and the people that do not listen are the people whom are destined for failure. Talk to a magician you know that is not on an online magic community. I would bet you he reads books. Its up to people like us to always encourage books on here. The people that need to see this information will. Those whom don't take the advice will simply not advance as quickly and not learn the best information out there.

isn't it considered illegal to expose something that is copyrighted?
so couldn't these people be arrested or at least fined???
But anyways, I am totally against youtube exposure, even though half the time, the trick is taught incorrectly.
I hope someone would put a stop to this somehow.

Over the last 3 years exposure of magic has grown out of control on youtube and guess what there's nothing we can do about it. so don't worry about it. Yes im against it but come on people you think somebody you showed a trick to the first thing that comes to their mind is to go to youtube and find the tutorial. and if it is then your performing for the wrong crowd. The only people looking up tutorials online are those who can not afford it because the are kids and dont have jobs and cant afford to buy it, or those who can not afford magic because of economic hardships but besides that I'm 100% that no normal lay person is gonna start looking up magic on youtube. unless there looking for an explanation of how criss angel walks on water.

I think you understood my response the way I intended it to be read. In that sense, I couldn't agree more with you. That was my point when I said "Magic books are such a thing of the past which is sad."

As a High School English Teacher I notice every day that people want to take the easy way out and not read, but rather, watch videos to gain the information. I know that if they had been a little more educated they might get more out of reading than watching...I am slowly working at it with them. But my point is exactly yours...It was just worded differently :)

Well, I am completely against youtube magic exposure. However, if we do not give out the name of the tricks that we performed for the people, they wouldn't know right?

Ok, exposure is bad, but ya'll are being paranoid. Picture this, you see a very interesting performance of a magic trick by some guy on the street, what is your first thought? That was really cool, how did he do that? Maybe he did... No... Maybe he... No. Later that day, you tell your friends about him, and think about how amazing he was. However, you don't think, I need to know how he did it... I'll just look online. Even worse, you people who are scared someone will interupt your tricks and explain how they are done... what the hell? Do you randomly look up how to do dance moves? No. Nobody is paranoid about heckling a magician so they look it up online. Do you think the world revolves around the secrets of magic? Do you think that laymen send secret spies into t11 to find out the amazing secrets?
