Visiting New York

Hello guys, I am from England, and I will be in New York around the 5th and the 9th of January, for business.

I just have a couple of questions, which some of you may be able to answer.

What will the weather be like? I am guessing it will be cold, but how cold? What should I be wearing? A thin jacket? Thermal coats? Eskimo gear? Although it is cold, will it be sunny? So will I need sunglasses?

Sorry for all the questions :)

I shall be visiting all the famous locations, statue of lib, empire state, times square, and will be going to Broadway and going behind the scenes too, I will be meeting some people at drama schools too.

Any suggestions are useful!

It's going to be very cold! About 8.88° Celsius, or 48 Degrees F.
So a Hoodie, and Cap would be perfect!

Where are you going to be in NY?;)

That's cool man.

Even though this forum is for magic, I'll answer anyways. . . .

Be sure to dress warm, it gets pretty cold in the city in January.
Thermals, jeans, sweatshirts, jacket, hat, and double-up your socks. lol
I wouldn't worry about the sunglasses, unless you just wanna look cool.

I'll be in Vermont snowboarding the week your coming up.
Have fun!

Yes. It will be very cld so I would say bring warm clothes and in layers. In addition to visiting all of the places you mentione I would also recommend visiting "Ground Zero." The place where the twin towers once stood. It is now a significant part of our countries history. If you never heard about it simply google. 9/11.

Basically on september 11th, 2001 some terrorists took over some planes and crashed them into the twin towers in NYC. Two planes hit and the buildings were destroyed. One plane the passengers managed to overtake and land somewhere. Go and vist "Ground zero." Google 9/11 or September 11 for info.

Hey Steven,
I live in the city and work at Tannens, you shoudl stop by to hang. If i were you I would bring a warm jacket, the NYC temperature is a little bit warmer than London's temperature.
Hope that helps.
Tannens is across the street from the empire state builing.

Yes, it can get cold, although the weather is unpredictable. It could be in the 40s Farenheit, or it could be in the 20s. If you have a hat, gloves, and a heavy coat or thermal parka you'll be fine.

Virginia won't be a lot different than New York. Both are on the East Coast.

You can so easily pass Tannens. You have to know the building number. If you don't, you wont find the place. (There is no sign for it or anything.) You walk in. You'll realize its very creepy. Get into the elevator and hope you don't die. Once on top, walk to the end of the hall way. There you will find an ice little magic shop. :)

As for the weather question.... I would dress pretty heavily. It gets cold.

Unfortunately I think the whole world knows what happened that day, and I think I will be visiting Ground Zero! Thank you for the reminder.

Warmer than London? So I can stick with the clothes I normally wear anyway? - If someone can, can someone link me to items of clothing you would normally wear... :p

Cool, that address is so different to how we layout our address so I hope I can find it :p - How far from Empire State is it?

It's on the same street :)

If I were you I'd spend like 2 days in Manhattan and 1 day on Coney Island, Brooklyn. That leaves you 1 day for the Statue of Liberty. But trust me, in 4 days you can't cover a half of a percent of what the city has to offer. Just plan and prioritize.

I managed to go to Tannens, I got a couple of effects I needed :) - Was a nice visit, my friends enjoyed it as they have never been to a magic shop before as they are not magicians, so they were like "wow wow wow" hehe, but it was great to go to a different one I suppose to the ones we have here in England.
