Editing Technique

Hello all,

I know there's a thread about editing programs up, but I just wanted to ask a couple of things. Is editing and filming more of a skill earned over time through experimentation, or can these skills be learned from an online or multiple online resources? If there are some good resources, would anyone care to share them?

in my opinion, it's requred both. You need the experience along w/ the knownlege so u have a basic idea how to shoot a video at a good angle. I learned how to edit by watching commercials and T11 products and practice. I hope this help.

For most, post production is definitely a skill learned through pure experience and experimentation. Dana is lucky enough to be a superhuman editing mutant. Think Mystique from X-Men... only with an iMac.

If you're looking for a resource to get started, Lynda.com is probably the best. Their video tutorials will guide you step-by-step through the entire process, covering every aspect of whichever program you choose to use [cough]Final Cut[/cough].
