whta is this chinese celebration about? why do you guys receive money? Im curios...
Chinese new year is based on the lunar calendar. It's usually sometime in January or February. As a tradition, parents and grandparents give their children a 红包 which means "red bag" which contains money. In china, red symbolizes good luck and wealth. So ya, thats a brief little crash course on chinese new year.
I feel so fortunate to have learned this in my Chinese Class, I can't read all that but I know what the money thing was about.
