Antique magic books, magazines, etc...

I just added 2 new books to my collection of classic magic.


1. "magic" by ellis stanyon 1924
2. "card tricks and how to do them" by august roterberg 1902

i also had a typewritten collection that covers magic you can do with soap bubbles, (frying them...freezing them, etc) but i sold it to a private collector. :d


if anyone has cool magic ephemera let me know.

Maybe i'll start dropping how to's from the treasure trove of old knowledge.

Like the "excelsior change"
or the "mexican turnover"

I've got an old book called amateur amusements, arlington edition. I'm not sure how old it is, as there is no copyright on it. I could not find any author. In the back it has pages for old products like Mrs Winslow's Soothing Syrup 25 cents a bottle, and dictionary for 40 cents and medical books for $1.50.


from what I can tell this book might be from the 1880's....

Thats a fun book. Your close. Just so you know it was published in 1878 by Hurst & Co(New York).
The author was Professor Lorento.

Hey thanks for the info! Good to know! It's funny how I obtained this book. It was in my parents basement in a trunk of old books that were owned by my great uncle, maybe even his parents. The books have been down there for years, but I never bothered looking through them! I had no clue this treasure was in there until a few months ago. There's so many fun things in there I've never even heard of. A lot of what is taught in there still holds true today.

Depending on the condition of this book, it is also valued between $50 and about $200.
