Wow, that low?
I was expecting way higher, but oh well. That helps a ton though, thank you!
It depends on where you work here in Vegas. Some casinos are higher end than others so they attract bigger tippers, sometimes. There are a number of casino/hotels here that are owned by certain companies. You can research these companies online, just search Las Vegas casino corporations. Each company has their own pay scale. Plus, you get tips. Now, your tips are either your own to take or you have to split them with other dealers. Except for the Wynn where, I believe, you split tips with your pit boss-don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure.
A lot of my friends work in the casinos as dealers and some of them have made over 100k a year. The people I know usually range from $25,000-$50,000. Being a dealer at a higher end casino usually helps too.
There are a few local casinos here, Station casinos being one of the biggest. I know a girl that works at Sunset Station and she walks away with 45K a year she also said her biggest year was 68k.
You don't have to have a lot of experience to deal in Las Vegas. You just need to pass dealer's school and apply. If they like you and you pass the background check, the urine/or hair test, and you pass their training you have a job. Some casinos here will even pay for your dealer's school or reimburse you if you had a previous work employment with them.Just thinking about it, the only way to deal at a higher end casino is to have a lot of experience. Generally, at high end casino's the dealers are fair and they make sure you're fair as well.
As for splitting tips, they probably do, since tips end up in a box under the table and the current dealer leaves it there.
Ahh... I was just wondering because I end up being dealer whenever my friends and I play blackjack (and usually poker), so I just wanted to see if there's any way to do a part-time dealer job when I grow older to pay for my own magic supplies.
