Ethics on downloading magic book pdf

It all depends on where you're downloading your free copy from. Ask the creator if there's a source that they recommend. Any support in website traffic, downloads, or cash that you give to pirates is not ideal, even if you've previously paid the creator for their work. Scott.

Saturday Night Contest - Movie Poster!

Thought I'd have a go at doing a new poster for a movie from 2006. The deck was Leaf-backed Bicycles, which you can just make out in the sky. Scott.

    "New" magic

I have one rule, and that's to refuse to limit myself within the boxes of a set of rules. It's good to set standards and ideals for yourself, but understand that this sort of mindset will narrow the scope of your exploration, and make you dismissive of things that could end up being worth your...

    Theory11 Forumiversary gifts?

It would be quite tricky for the forum to actually give these gifts as so many accounts are just abandoned but not closed. You'd have to track "active" accounts somehow. Not sure if that's possible, but it sounds like more work than it would be worth. Scott.

    Theory11 Forumiversary gifts?

"Forumiversary" as a phrase is neologism, which means it is an illogical, made-up word. Anniversary comes from the Latin "annus" (meaning year) and "versus" (meaning turning). "Anniversarius" literally means returning yearly. "Forum" is Latin for "what is out of doors", which is ironic as you...

Name and Origin for a Trick

Note that for many of the routines already mentioned, one can change the presentation in order to spell to the name of the card, not just count to a random, arbitrary number. The magician takes the deck and names any random card, and spells it out, one card per letter off the top of the deck...

Good ruses for creating set-ups FSDIU

Hide the actions of setting up in an effect that justifies it. When performing a mind-reading effect, where the performer is looking at the faces of the cards and trying to decide which one the spectator is thinking of, it often flies by everyone if the performer arranges the cards as they...

Where to find resources on knowing how many cards you're holding.

You can also look up "Jackpot Coins", a.k.a. "The Trick that Fooled Einstein" (often attributed to Al Koran). This is a classic effect that can be done with cards (amongst other things), where your spectator cuts off a small packet of cards, and then you cut off a packet for yourself. Your...
