    Click in cards

First of all, a click isn't that big of a deal, but I totally get if A lot of factors can cause a click. Humidity is probably the biggest culprit though. To fix it, try this: Shuffle the deck pretty well. Then Riffle Shuffle the cards into each other half face up, half face down. If...

    Pre-Thoughts on "Houdini's Last Secrets"?

Not entirely true. This isn't 2010 anymore, Wikipedia has some amount of credibility, at least when sources are given. In the Wikipedia article, 2 sources are mentioned pertaining to the first buried alive stunt. The first is a book which I'm sure someone owns and can use to give checks here...

    Pre-Thoughts on "Houdini's Last Secrets"?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Houdini#Buried_alive_stunt He did it at least 3 times. Twice under water, once underland where he made it to the surface with just one hand, fell unconscious, and had to be pulled out...

Top 20 Best DVD’s to learn new effects and tricks from 2018

In my opinion, DVDs are great for when you want specific effects, while books are great for when you want a wide range of techniques. It all depends on what you're looking for. And there are a ton of outliers to this. There are certainly some great DVDs that will teach you the basics of...

Hello and a bit about blinds and coolers

Hi Alex, and welcome to the forums! Let me just make sure I'm understanding this right: 1. You already have a deck out that you have been performing with, and have Cooler set up to switch the hot deck for a stacked one 2. You do a series of both stock and fake shuffles as well as stock and fake...

How can i know if my new move is original?

The only issue with this is that it is really old. Also, most of these are flourishes that stem from books and other resources. Cardistry flourishes tend to be much newer, as cardistry itself is much more of a recent creation. While flourishing has been around forever, all of the flourishes from...

How can i know if my new move is original?

Actually doing research by asking around, posting the move for people to actually see it, going through old resources to see if anything similar has been posted, waiting for a bit to see if anyone responds. Searching on Instagram and Reddit for 15 minutes won't get you anywhere...

    Pre-Thoughts on "Houdini's Last Secrets"?

I think the point of the promo was probably the same as click bait - get people to watch it. I'm hoping they go for the scientific approach as well. Also, from what I understand, Houdini's great nephew was actually the one that is hosting/coming up with the show. You too!

    Pre-Thoughts on "Houdini's Last Secrets"?

So I was watching Myth Busters today on the Science Channel and saw a commercial for a new special they'll be doing called "Houdini's Last Secrets". The show will air on January 6th, 2019. The show is essentially going to look at the science and methods behind many of Houdini's biggest tricks...

    Tuck Case Protectors

The clear plastic tuck cases are good Card Clips are also good, though some of the fancier boxes don't always fit in them (and you can't really see the tuck case when it's in a card clip). But it really does protect the cards from damage.

Are There Any Online Magician Communities?

Pretty much This is a great community here I think. Other online communities: reddit.com/r/magic (kinda iffy. It's a great community sometimes, but every now and then other post becomes people just asking for revealing a method, or people attacking each other). The Magic Cafe Forums is a...

Building off the Scrooge idea, building it around a disappearing coin routine seems fun.

    Magic Resources

I agree with @ID4 , specifically about Ask Alexander: It's essentially a giant library of magic resources. Lots of periodicals and magazines in there. My personal favorite is Jinx Magazine. There are over 100 volumes of Jinx on there, a lot of which are great, easy to learn, standalone tricks...

    Magic News

Shin Lim doesn't own the rights to Dream Act. He owns the rights to a televised or uploaded performance of the Dream Act, as he does with a few other acts. Anyone is allowed to perform the Dream Act. But if you're going to perform it on TV or for a camera that will be uploaded onto the Internet...

    Beautiful Storage Options?

I really like these shelves. They're simple and show off the decks. https://store.theory11.com/products/playing-card-deck-display-wall-shelf But, if you wanted a custom made shelf for a different size or whatever, you could probably contact a local woodworker who takes orders and see how much...

Is vanishing magic good to buy tricks from?

I agree with @RealityOne I haven't bought a huge amount of stuff from them, but the stuff I did buy was super high quality (including the gimmicks and the book I bought).

    Cards

Bicycle is always the way to go imo for cheap cards They look nice, they're super cheap (if you're in the U.S. Costco sells 12 for $20, but a regular 2 pack is just $5. They're cheap), they hold up well, and you won't be terrified of damaging them.

    My Contribution to Playing Cards

Looks great! I'm often hesitant to combine card magic and cardistry as it seems to take away from both, but I never would've thought of combining non-card based magic with cardistry. It looks awesome here! If you don't mind, the only constructive bit of criticism I have is that the ring was...
