    Marketing Advice

Another important aspect is that you need to be seen out in public performing even if its for free in the beginning. Volunteer at Nursing Homes, Churches, Blue and Gold Banquets, etc. Once you have a few free gigs under your belt and you have been seen in your community (provided that you do a...

How much is a good price to charge for close-up

Christopher just hit the nail on the head. For me to get more money than what I can make in my hometown where I am competing with 20 other guys in my local ring, I have to be willing to travel an hour north to Cleveland which is where people will pay the larger amounts I'm going after.

How much is a good price to charge for close-up

I'm not going to beat a dead horse because most of the veterans here have covered it with a plethora of knowledge. I've been performing for 19 years and based upon my demographics someone like myself can typically only get about $100 per hour for strolling/table hopping which actually isn't too...

Woody Aragon, Anna DeGuzman, Adrian Vaga and More

If you have never been to a magic convention you are truly missing out on an amazing time. Last weekend I was able to hang out with Woody Aragon, Anna DeGuzman, Adrian Vaga, Nick Lewin, Robert Baxt, Jason Hudy and many more professionals in our art. The Battle of Magicians Convention is held...

How can I make out of I am still a beginner at card magic?

Just to reiterate what Josh stated...I am by no means an advanced card handler yet, I am book EVERY weekend so far in May, June, July and starting December bookings as well. How well you handle cards does not have any indication as to how successful you'll be as a magician. Should you know some...

    SILENT OPENER

Interesting thought because due to the nature of most openers you want something that is quick and flashy and stimulates your audience. You typically need to "hook" them in the first 30 seconds. This can be accomplished with upbeat music, visual appearance, etc.

    Pick Pocketing

I wouldn't do it. Way too much potential for problems compared to the "pay off".

    Drums Magic

My mentor Ed Ellis, does a selected signed card found "inside" the drum. He jams the drumstick down through the drum and produces it from inside the drum. Obviously this is done at the very end of the set and magic routine.

Can you give me your thoughts on this Card Control I created?

I hate to be honest but it doesn't look natural at all for hand movements and the way someone would handle cards thus looking suspicious.

Have you ever fooled a magician with a double lift? What do you think is the best double lift?

I'll blow anyone away with a self working card effect with one heck of a story/presentation.

What are some of your favorite practical "impossible souvenier" tricks?

Stargazer by Alan Wong is one of my favorites after I have done crazy man handcuffs and a few other rubber band effects.

Here is my first promo vid. Looking for feedback!

I am going to be honest and allow you to take this however you want. Consider it constructive criticism. I really enjoyed the look and feel of your video. Very street like and hip - Great spectator reactions, music and shows your diverse repertoire of effects. That being said. Can you answer...

tips on doing table hopping in a small local

My 3 sets are titled A, B, and C. Each set last about 5 minutes and goes in a different suit coat pocket or pants pocket. Each set has a quick opener (which is a non card trick effect), followed by a card effect, and then my closer usually leaves them with my business card or a souvenir. Some...

    Unpopular opinions

I absolutely LOVE a packet trick called Eye Exam by Danny Archer. It's so so strong I've been using it for about 10 years straight now in my strolling set. It hits them over and over and over again. They spectators are left speechless. https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic/card-magic/eye-exam/
