Riddle of the Day :: Dividing the Deck Into Stacks

See, I think the mathematical answer is the most...riddle-esque answer. The others all (or almost all) require knowing something, or require a certain level of skill, or something, whereas the mathematical answer could be worked out without any extra knowledge.

Props, Plots & Purpose – A Brief Guide to Repertoire Design

An excellent post. Hopefully this'll stop people (myself included) buying every latest product because it looks good.

How many tricks should you learn?

Memorising a script for me personally is not that difficult, no, though I know that others may disagree with that. However writing a script is the difficult bit. There's more to it than saying 'And your card appears on top,' or 'And if I snap my fingers...' Go and watch a video of Derren Brown...

How many tricks should you learn?

The fallacy of this post lies in the assumption that a trick is nothing more than a string of sleights. Whilst there's probably alot of truth in saying that the more sleights you know, the easier the mechanics of new tricks will be, you're forgetting that arguably the more important part is the...

I'm not using it, mainly because I don't own it, but I have been very seriously considering getting it recently.

People messing up my tricks :'(

My family would amost certainly throw something at me midway through a triple backflip... I still advocate that talking to her would be the best solution. Just refusing to perform might work in the short term, but running from a problem never solves it. When I say talk to her, I clearly mean...

    Hypnosis

Hypnosis itself is neither dangerous nor safe. It's based very heavily on the belief of the subject (the person you're hypnotising); you'll find that in general, a skeptical subject will be harder to hypnotise than an open minded and willing participant. Because of this, if the subject believes...

People messing up my tricks :'(

Or you could just talk to her? I mean it's your dad's girlfriend, it's not like it's somebody you just met on the street. Just quietly go up to her sometime and tell her that it's alright to want to know how the magic is done, but could she stop spoiling the performance because it ruins it for...

Hey, sorry for taking so long to reply. I haven't checked T11 in an age. yes, in the UK cds are wrapped in cellophane, similar to cards only a bit more cd box shaped. I'm not entirely sure if it's exactly the same stuff they wrap cards with, but if not, it's very similar. Hope that helped.

    Bizzare Magic

Alexander Vornoff (Steerpike) has a book out on the subject of Bizarre Magic, by the name of Exhalt of the Weird, I believe. I've never bought anything from him, you may be interested in checking it out: Enjoy!

What are y'all up to lately?

I'm off to India for a month tomorrow! I'm helping build a school, and then trekking in the Himalayas for a couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to perform to some of the locals whilst I'm there...

I was just joking :P But yeah, I'm off tomorrow, starting to get nervous. If you reply to this, by the way, I probably won't get it for another month now. And even if all you do affects your wallet, you're still doing more than a lot of people by putting the money into something like that as...

    Fooled

His name is Andy Gordon, and he's a 27 year old Australian magician, now living in America, as far as I know. He's also the publisher of the Alternative Bitten Coin, a free article suggesting a new handling of the bitten coin routine.

How much to you handle cards?

Yeah, okay, I can see where you're coming from there. I'll concede that it depends upon what you're trying to portray through your character. I also, incidentally, quite strongly agree with the idea that the cards should merely be the medium for whatever happens, and not the focus, for both...
