    Signatures in Magic

I do quite agree that being different to other magicians is good, and giving out a signed card as a souvenir is a very powerful way of making sure they remember you. Indeed, I used to get spectators to sign cards quite a lot. But then I started using duplicates more and more, and realised it...

    Signatures in Magic

I'm going against what everyone else is saying here, because I believe you should absolutely not get people to sign cards. Firstly, I have never once had someone ask me if they can sign the card/coin/whatever - in my experience, it just doesn't occur to them! However the problem then arises if...

    4/4=1

Aye, a better angle to film from would be spectator's head level, looking down onto the cards.

    My Diamond Gem

Inspiration is a wonderful thing. I have been 'out of magic' for a while now - not performed or even picked up a deck of cards in ages. I'd just lost the inspiration to perform. I was seriously considering quitting for good. All of a sudden today, I had a stroke of genius, and now I have a...

    My Strait Jacket

I liked it alot. It completely changed the focus of the straitjacket routine, Very original, very nice.

How do you create a card trick?

Well I suppose that if it's just for your personal use, and the method is original to you, then yes. That is fair enough. If you tried to sell this, however, there would be issues, and you would have to contact the original creator of the effect and ask for permission.

Dan & Dave Change Magic - Playing Cards

... I feel so stupid now  Ah well, I still stand by my point that thermo-sensitive ink would be really annoying!

Dan & Dave Change Magic - Playing Cards

This really is a bit ridiculous. Magic comes from the presentation, not from a deck of cards. Why do you need to spend $250 on a deck of cards with thermo-sensitive ink when you could just use a double lift. Anyway, that would be really annoying, surely. Suppose the deck was in your pocket, and...

    G.O.P "Why to perform" essay

Right, I'm back! I'm going to keep it quite short, as it's a point that has been briefly touched upon by other people's replies, and because it's really quite simple. *ahem* Why do I perform to real breathing people? Is it because I want to improve my magic? Could it be because it makes me...

    Favorite Pass / Shift

I can do a classic pass, and used to do quite regularly. But I found that just cutting the deck was overall easier, and just as unnoticeable if done properly. Given that cutting the deck is a relatively natural action with a deck of cards, the spectator will pay it no attention assuming you...

    G.O.P "Why to perform" essay

I'm sorry, I've scanned this thread twice and been meaning to try and post something both times, but then didn't get round to it. I'll contribute something tomorrow, when I can type more than four words without having to correct a spelling error. Who says late nights are fun?

    Putting The Fire Out

I think this happens to near enough everyone at some point. Don't try and force the love for magic; it won't work. Give magic a break, leave it for the meantime and focus on other things. One day, you'll be sat there and you'll have a stroke of genius and dive for the nearest deck of cards, or...

How do you create a card trick?

Fair enough. To each his own, I suppose.

How do you create a card trick?

I disagree with this actually. Yes, if you want to create a trick to market, making sure it hasn't been done is important. However if you just want to create for the sake of creating a trick, I wouldn't worry too much about making sure nobody's done it before. When you first start to create...

    Favorite Pass / Shift

I might get burned alive for this, but I don't use a pass. I simply cut the deck.
