SEASONS Playing Cards - Feedback Requested

As it's the black faces that I dislike, I would suggest having black backs and white faces. Since I'm suggesting white faces, a black border will reveal reversed cards, so I'd go with a white border around the black back, a la earlier versions of DnD's S&M cards.

Hey dude, yeah, I'm around! Not often, and I don't post very often these days, but sure I hop on from time to time. I'm pretty good, just busy with life, you know? Uni, work, etc. How about you, how's it all going?

    We All Lie

Nice post, J.Slade. I'm quite in agreement. I don't want money or fame from my pursuit. Mentalism is a hobby for me, nothing more. But it's a hobby that forms another part of my personality, a part that I quite like. That's why I began performing. On a slight tangent - I posted a topic a...

Thoughts on this Effect for The Wire

Honestly, for that price (and regardless of price, really), definitely not. Not when you can buy Reality is Plastic for 25 GBP from a professional hypnotist, and commonly regarded as one of the best introductions to hypnotism around.. Hypnotism should be learned properly. For the same price, you...

The Wire - My Handling of The Push Off Double Lift

It's hard to tell from the video, but it looks like an exact replica of a Steve Draun double lift published in his book Secrets Draun from Underground. I don't know if you're aware of this move, but visually it looks indistinguishable, so it's worth checking out if you're not.

SEASONS Playing Cards - Feedback Requested

The white ones are by far the best design I've ever seen posted on here by a user. They show an understanding of design that is sorely lacking in every other idea I've seen. The backs aren't really my thing, but I nonetheless think that they're well designed, and I love the faces. The black ones...

If you are thinking about submitting to The Wire..

Agreed with both of the above. My biggest fear with The Wire is that people will be given the opportunity to release half-baked ideas. These ideas may be good ideas. They may be creative ideas. But they're just that - ideas that are not yet fully formed into magic, and that makes all the...

    Sick packaging...

Yeah, that packaging is one of the more original and awesome things I've seen xD

Would you buy this on the WIRE

Let me chime in for a few moments... I don't think that a trick has to contain new principles to be good. Very little is completely new anyway. Nor does it have to fool magicians. They're typically comments from magicians who want the next greatest thing. However, that doesn't mean that...

    The original "365 project" :: 52 Times A Week

I LOVE the part in the OOTW where you have a hand in switching some cards around. Although I've always performed mine, in its several incarnations, as completely hands off, certain presentations could definitely incorporate that very well...

    Brainstorming about a performance

Well, 4 days is too short to learn something new properly, so why don't you go through the tricks you know, and perform the one that will play best to a big audience? :s

    Berglas Effect

I'm tempted to argue the point, and provide evidence that it exists... But I know it won't do any good. Short of seeing it in front of your face (that Berglas, why doesn't he come here and prove to me that it does?), I don't think anything will convince you. Besides which, in typical magician...

It's interesting what you specs remember

False memories are explored in many different areas of psychology, but perhaps most notably in cognitive and forensic psychology. I don't have a clue as to where teachers and professors would refer you (or what is commonly used as introductory readings for the topic), but I've personally found...

It's interesting what you specs remember

If you're interested, it's worth doing some research into those areas of psychology that demonstrate how scarily easy it is to create false memories...

rejection: how do you handle it?

I like that you're comfortable with your look and are willing to defend it. I just want to point out that Dan Sperry is not where you are right now. He's not in a small town approaching people asking them to perform card tricks. I say this to note that as long as you are aware that society does...

    Berglas Effect

You know what? I have been so busy and out of the mentalism loop that I honestly didn't even notice when it came out. Between spending time in the States, traveling around Europe, and now settling back into uni here, I don't think I would have noticed it unless the news was delivered to me by a...

    Berglas Effect

The posts above me have said what I wanted to say about the effect... This is just a small note about learning magic in general. There are many approaches to learning magic. Of course, you can see a trick you like, and buy it, if it is available. The other is to learn about card magic, so that...

What is your favorite sandwich effect?

AKong, I mean: Why are you using two cards to find one? It makes the effect more than a trick, or a flashy demonstration of skill - it gives it meaning.

What is your favorite sandwich effect?

d+M's Advocate Sandwich has the best justification for using two cards to find one that I've seen (and gives you the chance to perform a REAL miracle).

Can I make a color change its own trick????

I would argue that an effect like Sleeping Queen is essentially a colour change effect, although admittedly not in a conventional manner - it doesn't use a conventional card sleight and the card doesn't change colour. But if you actually think about what happens in the most bare bones sense...
