I'm sorry if I overreacted a bit, I just think that we should always try to keep our criticism constructive. If there's something wrong with it, we shouldn't just harp on that, but rather make suggestions for improvement.

    Dark Matter Levitation Promo

All right. No need to be a dick. If he wants to post a video for feedback, he has every right to do so. When it comes right down to it, I kind of like the idea of the card moving laterally, rather than just vertically. That said, I'm still not really blown away. I mean, it's good, but not...

    Diving Board Double Lift Questions

The acrobatic version is cool and not ultra-difficult, but as Brian Tudor says, "that's just not a smart double lift." I, like Jon Raiker, use the non-acrobatic version more often. But when it comes right down to it, the double lift I use most is a Vernon double pushover.

Here's a request for the Table Faro (not the one on the Trilogy, but the ridiculous one that JE references in the Center Deal).

    Ben is sad now.

What video should I see next?

Agreed. But actually get a copy of Expert at the Card table and memorize it. No, seriously.

Must-read books that I can buy at Barnes & Nobles?

    Card Control by Arthur Buckley.

    When did you start?

I started doing tricks when I was seven after I learned a cool way to make a coin disappear on the Disney Channel (which had fallen so heart-breakingly far since). I was inspired two years before that when a magician in an airport did a card tear and restoration in my very own hand. Before...

    TnR Transpo

The effect can be found in Williamson's Wonders by Richard Kaufman. You can find it at D&D and most magic shops.

    Suggestions for Music?

So good. I would recommend either Boards of Canada or RJD2. Both have phenomenal instrumentals that would work great for a magic act. If I were to choose, however, I would pick Boards of Canada. Because they're very awesome.

Like everyone else is saying, Tannens is great. A little expensive, but that's retail for you. Mike is usually the one behind the counter. He's a pretty cool dude. Also, if you know who Spencer Peterson is, he works there on weekends I think.

    Video Cutting

It would actually be better to fade out rather than to cut. A fade psychologically implies that something has ended. A cut, rather, signifies a transition.

She's in my First Year Seminar at Bard College. We were actually on a trip to NYC to see the play "The Aristocrats" (which on a side note, you should go see before it closes--it's at the Irish Repertory Theater on 22nd) and I was doing magic when your name came up.

Apparently you used to work for this Girl Lola's mom. She tells me that you also showed her a Voodoo ash trick on her arm, and you also told her that you would only teach her a trick once she could do a coin-roll.

Cool Little Coincidence - Doug McKenzie

Um, apparently you did a card revelation on her arm with ashes, and she also asked you to to teach her something and you said that once she could do a coin roll, you would. I'm not really sure of her last name, but her first name is Lola.

    Please critically review my website.

I really like the color scheme. A lot of magicians these days are going for grungy dark themes. Yours is classy and elegant. I like that. I'm less enthusiastic about the masthead. Could be better--it doesn't quite live up to the rest of the design. I like the suits lining the sides, but I...

Some inspiration for those who think outside the box

I'm actually working on something just like that right now, only a little less visual. In one of the David Blaine specials, there's a trick where he actually does drop a card and it shatters.
