    STUD change

Like the post above, the change isn't what I'd consider original (just a steal and a load) but I agree: the snap justifies it quite well.

    Jay Sankey magic

That's a fantastic trick off of Jay's Supernatural DVD called Forced Entry. I've used it for years. Jay posts the free videos for a few days, then takes them off of his site. He probably won't repost that one for at least a couple of years, but if you are interested in learning the trick again...

Best deck to perform with ?

As stated above, it's about preference. When I perform, I'll go through decks about once a week (or about once a gig, depending). As far as durability, Propaganda's lasted me the longest (over two months of CONSTANT gigging).

    Our Appearance

Agreed completely. I wear a vest or a cardigan on stage, along with a tie, because I feel like it fits my character. If I came out in a short sleeved shirt, I don't think it would play quite as well.

I have something that I don't know what to do with

Hey there! While I'm not sure who created it (or where it's written), it's an effect that I first came across in a magic kit when I was about 9. If I recall, you have the blank card on the face of the three diagonal cut cards, spreading them to show all blank. Then when you hold it up to...

    Effect Quotes

Hey jesuspuerta, That's a great question, and one where the rules are fairly informal. When it comes to getting quotes, there are three ways that I've seen work really well. 1) Show it to any of your magic friends who have names. Big names don't always help sell a product. Honest reviews...

    Haunted Deck?

Ah, I completely forgot about that one. I used to perform it, too. Kun is a genius.

    Haunted Deck?

There will be eventually. :) Which is your favorite version of the Haunted Deck?

    Haunted Deck?

I just released a new eBook on the haunted deck http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/2752 In performing it again (it had been a while; I had forgotten about it), I've been looking for other great methods for the haunted deck. Scared is one of my favorite methods and one that I use considerably...

Angry Bird Sponges aka. Mad Sponges

As far as I know, there isn't another way. Same way that you have to have a Theory11 account to send messages and buy products, ebay is just a bit more careful with it. With that many people using the site, there is a lot of spam, so they're very careful.

Angry Bird Sponges aka. Mad Sponges

Yeah, Magic Geek produced these a couple of years ago. Chris Ballanger painted them by hand, and so there were only somewhere between 50 and 100 sets produced. They sold out back then, so the best bet would be to try and find a used set somewhere online.

Tyler Wilson's All of your Beeswax

http://www.trcky.com/notebook/2012/07/09/all-of-your-bees-wax That has to be one of the most thought provoking essays that I've ever read. Plus, the sandwich effect Tu;er talks about is a really, really great idea. Thoughts?

Good Reads for the Proficient Performer?

Man, that's an excellent question (and I like the title). :P Just off the top of my head: Rune's World by Rune Klan is one of the BEST that I've ever read. Secret Agenda by Roberto Giobbi is a fantastic read that will help you everyday. Approaching Magic by David Regal has some of the most...

    My new routine

I liked it for the most part, I'm just wondering about two things... 1) If there isn't a better time to do the moves. The routine was pretty "move-y" and I feel like the moves were all done during pauses, or on-beats when they could have been timed more deceptively. 2) What the justification...

    creative tips

Hey there Cardistry! Creativity is a science that is different for everyone. There are hundreds of people like Sternberg, Ariely, and Amable who all devoted their lives to finding out what makes people creative. Each day, hundreds of courses are taught on just one specific facet of creativity...

    Hofzinser Cards

Hofzinzer Cards are awesome pieces, but not something that I think I would use. I think the best place for them would be what others have stated above me... A gambling demonstration with a kicker.

    College Majors

As someone who is going into college this year, I can honestly say that I VERY much understand where you're coming from. I'd love to give up everything and go into professional performing, but I'm waiting until after college to try. If you really love magic that much, go for a major that: 1)...

Original or Not Original (or semi-original)?

Absolutely! I HUGELY respect not wanting to rip another magician off. What I said is just the best way I found to find out. There definitely is something awesome about being told that your idea is new from huge names, even if just to know that you created something.

    Question about published material.

Hey there everyone! I just had a quick question about something. David Regal gave my product Mute (from Trcky) got a good review in this months issue of Genii magazine. Now here is my question: I assume I'm allowed to quote him in the article for promotional purposes, but am I allowed to post...

Stepping on other magicians toes and etiquette

Man. That's not a good situation at all. I would politely ask him to stop performing there before anything else. If you're being paid to be there, it's your job. Whether or not this other magician is good, the restaurant wants you. Two magicians (especially if he's not up to par) looks less...
