Learn to do the sleight or move to perfection, then spend hours on what to say.

Richard Wiseman's EMC talk alludes to this as well. That was a brilliant talk.

Is this in a busking sense, or just close up magic on the street?

It's great how you've memorized its real name.

    Your top 3 impromptu effects

Not when you do it on blank business cards. If you are requested to do magic, being able to do magic with anything immediately at hand is impromptu. I just think it's funny how many people carry cards around on them and list card only effects.

    Impromptu tricks?

I argue against this, from my magical paradigm. I believe that a magician should be a presenter of magic, and that magic should be able to be done anywhere, and expressed through any medium.

    Your top 3 impromptu effects

I love how much card magic is being mentioned as "impromtu". -Producing a coin from a flash of fire produced from a scrap of paper given to me by a spectator -One coin routine -Out to lunch

Amazing Effects, but mostly Overlooked by Magicians

Daley's Last Trick is one that I don't see many do. I fail to see why, it's one of the greatest card tricks ever.

    Help on effects

I don't think effects being "cliched" is a problem, unless you suspect that your clients have witnessed a magician before. In that case, just make sure your ACR/Card Under Glass isn't a carbon copy of anyone else's, and you should be fine. You could also consider the Anniversary Waltz, and the...

    My mind is blown

Oh, right. I haven't gotten around to that book yet. Quite a few people I know refer to the ACAAN as the Berglas Effect, but that's probably just the vernacular. Also, to address your previous point, since I happen to be watching EMC session 2 right now; according to Lu Chen, he created a...

    Help on effects

ACR, assuming you're only doing stand up. If you have a table available, card under glass is always good.

    My mind is blown

You're misusing the term "Berglas Effect". Nowadays, it's synonymous with the term "Any Card at Any Number", not specifically the mechanics of the effect that Berglas himself did. Not that anyone knows the inner workings of the original trick anyway.

Looking around to learn the second deal

Even if there are superior methods, it's advantageous to learn older methods that use slightly antiquated grips that may suit your hands better than newer, refined methods.

    My mind is blown

This is quite amusing to me.

Looking around to learn the second deal

Expert Card Technique does quite a good job of teaching it.

ok - this abuse needs to end.

Aw, I was going to bring this up. You think professional musicians have an issue with people learning their art just to pick up? You think that idiots with guitars whose repertoire consists of an entire 4 chords cheapens music? Music still persists as an artform despite the mass...
