    I would start off with volume 1. There is so much good material in these books it can be overwhelming. You don't want to skip over any awesome material by going through all three books too fast. Hope this helps.

    'Beyond Secrets' or 'Beyond Deception'

    I don't have Beyond Deception but Beyond Secrets was a great book. It had everything I was looking for to take my magic to the next step. Certain things I found helpful were the sections on how to practice and how to connect to your audience. It is a really quick read too. Hope this helps.

    The only time I ever carry cards with me if a) I know I will perform, like at a party. Or b) I know I will have time to get a little practice in like sitting in the waiting room at the dentist's office. Other than that I try to use things around me if someone asked me to do magic.

    I would suggest picking up Genesis. Which can be found right here on the sight. It teaches all of the basics and teaches some cool flourishes which aren't too hard. Hope this helps.
