My version of the Ultimate Ace Assembly

Here's some things to note: -"Your version" is basicly a minor variation on the McDonald's $100 Routine, that is nowadays generally known as McDonald's Aces. -The switch at the beginning had no motivation at all. You also focused too much on the three cards and that would probably raise some...

    World's greatest magic trick?

I have read and studied - that's how I've got my answers so far. People who are used to seeing magic have a different kind of perspective, so close friends may not be the most suitable control group for theoretical analysis. Can I ask you where have you learned Ambitious Card? Why should...

    World's greatest magic trick?

That is absolutely true. Spectators will usually say "do it again" if something wasn't clear or if they have a possible solution in mind and they want to see if it is how you do it. This is possible to avoid by doing everything clearly, so that they don't want to see the effect a second time...

    World's greatest magic trick?

Nailing it once could be just luck. We all know that, don't we? Laypeople certainly know.

    World's greatest magic trick?

Didn't anyone of you read the word Repeat? Nobody has been able to do it the way I described. Not Daniel Madison, not Derren Brown. No he can't. Not 100% surefire. Just quessing. Derren Brown could probably do it because he is a brilliant magician, but he hasn't published any surefire...

    World's greatest magic trick?

If not counting flying around in broad daylight or shooting fireballs... Put one card on the table. Have someone name any card. Have them turn over the card. It's the named card. Repeat. Personal. Direct. Impossible. Too bad nobody can do that.

Old Magic Can Still Teach New Tricks

I disagree. I think everything matters and should be taken into account. You're not going to get anywhere if you face the problems with "whatever, I don't care". And always remember that the new tricks are based on the old ones. Also remember that the new version isn't necessarily a better...

Review: One-Hand Top Palm by Alex Linian (download)

That jerking hand motion isn't what I'd call a natural way to palm a card... And WTF is that guy talking about in the video? "I didn't like that the one handed top palm ended with a card in my hand". O...k...

    Best Card Effect

Place one card on the table. Have someone name a card. Let them turn over the card on the table - it is their named card.

    Be myself?

If you see being yourself as a problem when you're performing, then being someone else isn't going to make things any better. We already have a David Blaine. We also have a couple of thousand copies of him (including names mentioned in this thread ;))

    Trick That Fooled Houdini?

When Vernon fooled Houdini he didn't use a tilt or any other depth illusion. He simply placed the chosen card second from the top and magically it became the top card. He repeated this seven times in total. After the first three or so times Houdini signed the card because he thought Vernon was...

After placing an order for Jerry's...

No matter how stupid you think it is, those cards are priced around 200 bucks in eBay and there's plenty of people who are willing to pay that price. Concidering that, getting a deck for 50 bucks is a very good deal.

    Do That Again!

I believe that people want to see something again if they are caught off guard, don't understand the trick, or have a possible solution how the trick is being done. Tricks with bad design have the problem that everything isn't clear and there is something fishy in the handling. Of course the...

    Torn and Restored Matrix?

Dani DaOrtiz has a trick where he tears a signed card into four pieces and does a matrix with the pieces. Then at the end he restores the card. It is pretty difficult but very practical. The trick is called Matrix Restored and can be found in his .pdf "Cementario de Cartas".

    Mystique or Andthensome

Wow, that would be awesome. I gotta start working on that that one. EDIT: Oh and the answer for your question: Get Expert Card Technique and you'll still have money to buy some cards. You'll learn more from that book than from both of those DVDs.
