    Magic Book Reviews?

Although this post might sound absurd, its not. I got a tip from Brad couple of months ago, he turned me into a certain source, I saved up and bought it, his advice was right on the mark. The source taught me some damn good stuff and even more with serious study, tricks and otherwise. My point...

    New to Magic

I would advise you to get Mark Wilson's magic book ( I forgot the name, but its quite popular ), for these reasons: - Teaches coins, cards, and most importantly, spong balls, which are great for young kids. - Very cheap paperback, so if you plan not to get into magic more, or just "remain on...

    This Control

The book is reprinted in a new revised edition, so I advise getting it instead of the booklets. Cheers,

    This Control

I recall a post in an old/new books thread here at T11, someone said that Card College "filters" the "good/bad" material of Vernon and Marlo. And here ya go. This is a Vernon, Ricky Jay uses a tabled version ( which is the justified one on this context ), which makes the effect happen. Study...

    Riffle pass

Classic riffle pass's worst angle is direct right, whatever fast you do it, check in the mirror :) Unless you're talking at variations, some people worked around it, and they do riffle the deck, don't know if this comes under riffle passes you're talking about. Obviously I'm talking doing...

    Card Magic Books

As said above, with some additions: - Stars of Magic: Recently reprinted, recieves outmost recommendation. - Erdnase: Though not everyone's cup of tea at the beginning. - The Vernon Book of Magic: Goes into Vernon's theory, and many of his class effects, cards/none-card, more material can be...

Making a Magic Club at School?

On an intresting note, Guy Hollingworth actually started magic because he joined a magic club at school ...

    Strike Double

Check Greg Wilson's Double Take video, or the newly reprinted Stars of Magic book for an excellent description. Cheers,

    The Chills

I worked out an identical method for the haunted deck last year, though left it as it depended alot of the deck condition, and thought the handling is not the most deceptive thing in the world. Glad it works for you, I wouldn't be surprised if you find many magicians thought of the same method...

    Opinion about Double Lifts

On an interesting note, I know some amateurs who are way, way above professional level, though don't earn money from magic. I know this post is unrelated to the subject, but its worth addressing. There is a difference between a casual hobbyist and a keen amateur, you don't have to be pro...

    Opinion about Double Lifts

I worked out this 2 years ago, and found out 2 other magicians that use it. Me and both of them did it as a modified handling of the Vernon Push off. The idea of using gravity is credited to R. Paul Wilson in his UltraNatural DL, though used differently. Its ebook is just 5$, check it out. Cheers,

    The Expert

I HIGHLY recommend getting the original text first, without the annotations. I advise fellow students to study the text, write some notes and practice the moves, when you develop an understanding of the material, get the annotations. This way you'll appreciate and understand the notes way more...

    Opinion about Double Lifts

As written in Kaufman's book The Complete Works of Derek Dingle, Dingle only used one DL, which is a none-push off. The card guy you met might have confused it with a other double, or maybe its something that Dingle explained in a source other than the book, you'll never know :) Cheers,

    Problem about forgeting effects

Have a notebook and draw a timetable in it .. Record as needed, full with script, or better do it in your PC, so you can easily edit out and add improvments and notes to your scripts. Many times I workout an effect, or work on an a new effect, then forget about it. Even if you actually work on...

    Don't Perform for Strangers

I'm pretty sure Joe means improvisation when meeting up people, using his communication skills. I don't see anything wrong with that, especially if your personal character allows you to. I do it all the time, especially in informal performances, as opposed to, say, table hopping, where...

Not another Chris Kenner 1-on-1... Wait that's me.

WAIT!!! Diagnal Palm shift!! We gotta see you do it ( explain it as a bonus, too ) XD

Kenner, how about some pass work? Of even some stuff out of Erdnase? Open shift ? ~ Feras

    Rocking Roll Aces

The effect is a mixture of the original Peter Kane Jazz Aces, and Darwin Ortiz's version Modern Jazz Aces. I advise you to look into Darwin's version, as all what Darwin did is smoothen out the original, especially since the good part of it is replaced here by the very sleight that Darwin...

    S.W.E. Shift by Chris Kenner

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! Every single Erdnase student/maniac dreamed of seeing Kenner's S.W.E shift! It lives for its reputation indeed. This is a MUST for every Erdnase lover. Kenner does it flawlessly and better than many I've seen. Heck, seeing it down worth the price of admission. THANKS...

    Pass Problems

They do touch, its the tension ( mostly caused by speed without acquiring the knack ) that produces the sound. The packets touch, since you want to do the move with minimum space. No sound is produced when the knack is acquired ( spelling ), do note that you compensate speed with cover, or...
