    Stage Starter

Of course, Bob Cassidy's opener doesn't involve the whole audience eihter.

    Stage Starter

Where is it written that the opening effect should involve the whole audience? Richard Osterlind opens with Bank Night, which doesn't involve everybody by any means. Marc Salem begins with a booktest, which only involves 1 or 2 people.

    Gimmicked watch?

You don't need a gimmicked watch to do this (Any watch that turns to set the time will work, some better than others.) - if you have the time to go out and buy one, just get Osterlind's first Mind Mysteries tape. It's really good. http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=1742 for an...

    Stage Starter

Why don't you make an invisible deck, only use Postcards of various countries instead of playing cards. That way you could have various audience members decide or vote on things like "which hemisphere they think the country is in" or "whether they think it's a big or small country." The method...

    Mentalism. Which book to get?

I can't read the Jinx on Learned Pig though- the text font and unusual spacing makes the whole thing just seem like a bunch of random letters to me.

    Ramsay Cylinder

Or you could just use a toilet paper roll. That's what Ramsay used.

    Mentalism. Which book to get?

Bob Cassidy's "Fundamentals." That's what DICE R will say. I promise.

Has anyone seen this effect published?

If you have found a clean and novel method, i congratulate you, but the effect could be done with a simple undercull force, couldn't it?

    Book Test

David Hoy's Bold Book Test can be found in "The Bold and Subtle Miracles of Dr. Faust." http://www.ronjo.com/magic/BKBLDMIRC.html It's a great booktest, impromptu, no gimmicks, no setup.

    Book Test

If price is no expense, and all you're looking for is the revelation of a single thought of word, the best is the Mother of All Book Tests. Unless of course you're looking for a themed booktest of some sort, then perhaps you should look toward the Outlaw booktests.

    Magic Like Derren Brown

I live in the states, but I usually start with the favourite color (for chunneling), which has the advantage of being a seemingly unrestricted choice, when in reality there are only 3 or 4 options. I hear that the majority of Enigma is from PMM.

    Technique vs. Universal Impression

Y'know, preaching like that doesn't actually help the guy. In my opinion, an impression device is more practical and can accomplish more than the technique used in "Technique."

    Boon type writers?

On this note, how many of you find it easier just to use a regular "C" type nail writer?

    Martin Gardner has passed away.

It is a sad day, not only for magic, but for the world. He was one of my favorite authors, not only in magic, but in recreational mathematics and logic.

    The Importance of Timing

To confuse things a little, there are two types of tension. Mechanical tension, and dramatic tension. The first type is like a tension in your palm, when beginners learn to palm coins- And the second type is a theatrical tool. In performance, there are basically two "modes" you can be...

    The REAL Satisfaction of Magic

Why would you post something if you were only looking for compliments. That seems terribly vain to me- y'know what they say- "Give each negative comment a moment of thought, and ignore all the positive ones."

5 Sleights for the Rest of Your Life

Almost the same as the above poster, except instead of DMB spread control I'll just say "cull," and instead of pinky count, I'd say "palm."

DEAD or ALIVE - Wallet Sized

Also you said "Dead and Alive" seperation, which confuses me. Are you looking for an effect where the spectator writes several living names and a dead name on bits of paper, mixes them up, and then the "medium" (you) divines which one is the dead name and in some cases what the name is- OR...
