A force in the form of dealing cards?

You could use a Koran 5 Star Miracle Forcing Deck, which allows them to deal and stop at any point and the card is forced without sleight of hand. The only problem might be that there are 4 different possibilities with this deck... You could also use a svengali deck.

Is it all camera tricks? Any ideas on these routines?

Why? If there was an effect that allowed you to fly a hundred feet into the air for a crowd of a thousand people and then shoot fireballs, but required 20 stooges, would you go for it? Of course you should! I mean, you've just changed the lives of 9980 people? I mean, imagining such an...

Is it all camera tricks? Any ideas on these routines?

I love that prestige quote, but I think it's more in favour of my argument than yours. Imagine you're walking along the street and you see a street magician In scenario 1, he asks a random person to pick a card, and then he reveals it inside his shoe. Amazing. In scenario 2, he asks 3...

Is it all camera tricks? Any ideas on these routines?

If you really cared about your audience, you would do your best to give them the best illusion that you possibly can- if that means using stooges, then do it. I think it's a classic line, and sort of cliche now too, but "We only have one chance to affect our spectator, why would we let...

Is it all camera tricks? Any ideas on these routines?

When you perform magic on TV, the audience present during filming is NOT the audience you're appealing to. If you had the chance to use stooges, why wouldn't you? Stooges are just like any other tool in magic- and the only magicians that argue against them are those that don't know how to use them.

Is it all camera tricks? Any ideas on these routines?

Why would you NOT use stooges when you have the oppurtunity AND it would enhance the effect? Only magicians have any idea that stooges are in play, and if in your dogmatic attempt to avoid stooging, you performed a weaker effect than you could have for television, then I say shame on you...

    Failing|Essay

All in all though, your failure wasn't too bad. Imagine if it had been the very first thing you attempted (instead of, I assume, the 3rd or 4th) and you had failed. That's always the worst.

Corinda's 13 Steps to Mentalism DVD - My Review

Thank you for this review! It reminded me of the vast numbers of gems in the 13 steps that I've overlooked. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough, but is the "hanging prediction" not included in the book, and is just something Richard threw in?

    Nervous of doing the Pass

Do you know EXACTLY what you're going to say BEFORE and AFTER you do the pass? It should flow perfectly, there shouldn't be a gap in the conversation where you think "what am I gonna do next." This stopping in conversation and action, this break in the flow of the routine when most people...

    Interesting thought...

I'm a follower of the first statement- if you know what each step in the presentation is, where the attention is continually drawn, the audience will follow you and the moves will never be seen. There also won't be any awkward pauses, (like when most card magicians just sit there and riffle...

    Mentalism + Coin Magic

Mentalism makes people... very "touchy" about their craft. It's advisable that you combine your "coin work" with whatever you're doing right now, but make a seperate mentalism set. The coins will add vareity to your card work, but the mentalism needs to be seperate from any "magic" to reap...

    The Devils Picturebook

http://derrenbrown.co.uk/devilspicturebook/store.php You have to answer the question though. Not a hard one though.

    Telephone Force

Why would you use cards to select a phone number though? Pretty unnatural..

    Telephone Force

Have you tried bluffing? Works remarkably well from a large stage. Have a phonebook, ask them to call out a page number, a line number, and a column number. You then "read" the number off the page, of course just saying your own. You could even have a stooge read the number for you. You do...

    Essential Reading on Presentation

I loved "The Books of Wonder" by Tommy Wonder. Not purely on acting (in fact there's very little information on that topic dispersed throughout the two books) but the advice that he does give are gems from somebody who actually went to acting school

Ideas for a good eerie name revelation?

This probably isn't what you're looking for, but I always thought it'd be really awesome if you had an ouija board, and the planchette moved around the board all on its own (thread hookup) and spelled out the name. Spooky.

    Mentalism Question

Again, the amount of propless material is low compared to the amount of 'prop-ful" material, but surely there are 6 or 7 propless effects that string together to create a compelling demonstration. That's really all you need. But "is it propless" should NEVER be taken into account when you...

    Mentalism Question

O.O No, it's not at all expensive because you only need to do 3 tricks better than anybody else. *cheeky smile*

    Mentalism Question

Hmm. A bit of advice if you REALLY don't want to spend that 30 dollars- since you've been in card magic for about 2 years, you should have enough knowledge to register for Marko's Learned Pig Project. http://www.thelearnedpig.com.pa/home.html If you considers you enough of a "magician," he'll...

Running through your mind by Clyde Vawlle

Wow, this seems really interesting. Is the RunningThroughYourMInd force psychological? And if so, what do you find your accuracy rate is?
