bSmith vs. Justin Miller controversial lecture tour

What JM and BSmith do in their personal time should have nothing to do with their magic or products. The focus should be on their lecture and the products they sell. Personal issues such as having a problem with how they live their lives should not be brought into play.

    Success or Failure?

We were all in the same boat when we started. The stage fright will go away once you have gained confidence in your tricks. The only way to gain confidence is to keep practicing and performing for people. I used to get really nervous when I knew I had to pull a top change off in front of...

    Flipper Coin Questions

I'm not a fan of the magnetic flipper coin as it is a pain to open. I had one and used a PK Ring to open, however, the PK Ring would "pull" too much on it and it would break faster. Do you stretch out your flipper coin? I would recommend letting it sit open for a couple hours. -The pro...

    Stage Show

There's a really good trick in that Mark Wilson book involving a signed quarter that is vanished and found inside a matchbox, inside a ball of yarn. The presentation is up to you to come up with. You could do a whole story about time travel.

    The Jinx? Very odd

The Jinx was a Magic Periodical edited and published by Ted Annemann, also its major contributor, in Waverly, New York. Jinx started in October 1934 and ran for 151 issues. It's last issue was December 15, 1941 just before Ted committed suicide. Originally put out on a monthly basis, it...

The New Erdnase Deck from Conjuring Arts!

I was able to get a couple of 1902 Smith Back Black decks in Ivory, and Cambric finish awhile ago. The only problem is that both boxes are exactly the same, so the librarian actually had to stick one of those shiny star stickers on the Ivory boxes so I could tell the difference. Not too fond...

    Brown Split Spades

Hi all, Thank you for your replies. I got them from David. It's a shame that the cards did not turn out the way they liked. I really do like the brown look of the box. The cards would have looked great in brown. I've never seen the gold boxes. As far as I know, only the blue decks were...

    Where are the matches available?

If you have a local 7-11, you can get the white matchbooks for free. Just go in there and ask for matches. They usually have a jar full of them for people to take at the counter.

    Check this guy out

I would recommend that you don't practice magic while drinking jack, interrupt the rolling of a joint, and smoking a cigarette. Not good for deck life!

    Brown Split Spades

Does anyone know anything about these cards? I just received a brick of these in the mail, and I couldn't find any history on it. They are the same as the Blue Split Spades, however the box is brown.

    Pen Vanish

There's no real name for this pen vanish. It's just sleeving or the use of a topit which should be standard knowledge for all magicians. Leaving your hands down paints a target on your sleeves after the vanish. I would suggest after wiping the hands together to raise it up to show the fingers...

    Is Thread Dangerous?

The only thing I can think of (If you did follow the safety precautions) is that you may have cut your eyelid a little while pulling the thread out of your eye. This will lead to infection later if you keep touching your eye with dirty hands. I have concluded that I cannot do the geek method...

    Help With a Show

For me, I'll fit about 8 effects in a 45 min show. I would agree with reverhart and work on 10 to 12. You can always cut out effects if you're running low on time. I usually have some filler effects that would take a few minutes as a backup. If you're good at interacting with people, and...

What are these cards? "Great Mogul"

A friend of mine gave me a pack a year or so ago. Great feeling cards. Thin but very smooth. I collect playing cards and I've never felt cards like them before. Sorry, but I don't know anything about this history.

    Rings For Magicians

I wear a 1911 Barber Quarter that was made into a ring. I do coin magic with quarters so that's what I went with. I ordered mine from Peter Pitchford. Not sure if he goes through the same guy that made the ones on the link above, but mine had a choice of silver finish or a two-toned finish...

Punk'd by kevin ho - performance

I agree with themagicmonkey777. Take it slow and use another set of 4 cards that are not court cards. The Kings and Queens blur together too much.
