Deck used in the Hole Thing

HA!! I won $10....I bet someone that within 24 hours someone will post and ask what cards are used in that trailer.

    Mr. Bayme, please answer

Mr. Bayme obviously will pack all the winning scratch cards within the first 10 orders because that makes perfect sense. Mr. Bayme will also only tell you this secretly and only you will know this fact. Mr. Bayme knows that no one will read this thread in a public forum. This all makes perfect...

Rizer by Eric Ross and B Smith

The effect looks awesome. My only concern with something like this is will this be closer to Stigmata or Exile? In the sense that both results look good but one requires time limits and pocket management that makes it impractical while the other is very practical in nearly all settings.

    Double Lift

One of the best advice I've ever received many years ago about "magic techniques" came from a magician at The Magic Castle named, Rich Cowley. He's a terrific guy and a great entertainer. He was showing me a trick and he told me to shuffle the cards, which I did, then he said, "OK, now show...

    Double Lift

Memphis - forget all the nonsense of doing fancy pinky counts and push offs. Go to Aaron Fisher's site and get his little tutorial on Double Lifts. From a spectator and entertainment point of view that is all you'll ever need.

    Dealing with haters

Great article and very true: http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2010/05/18/tim-ferriss-scam-practical-tactics-for-dealing-with-haters/ Chris Kenner posted this link via Twitter. It's a good lesson in pretty much everything you do, however, #4 is particularly interesting. In the magic...

    A Trick With Nothing

This was awesome. And 9 out of 10 spectators won't even remember he had a marker to begin with. Spectators will rarely remember the pieces involved, especially if you don't draw attention to it. In all likely hood when they replay or tell others about what they saw, they'll simply say, "This...

    Tonight I Failed Magic

Well Andy, the fact that you think what Steerpike posts is "self-absorbed nonsense" tells me that you're one of those "touchy feely" guys that can't stand to look at the realities of life. None of what Steerpike writes are things that can't be proven if someone opens their eyes and looks out...

Why Do People Act Like This?

Every magician....actually...every guy on this forum should print that out and truly understand what he is saying and then apply it. Forget magic, it will change your interactions with men and women. If you can actually apply what he is saying, anything you do in magic will be much more well...

    Tonight I Failed Magic

Don't you love when cowards create a new username so they can talk nonsense with no evidence to back it up?

    Distortion by Wayne Houchin

Jay - send me a PM. I do Distortion every night when I perform for my dinner show so I can give you quite a few useful nuiances. It does have 1 or 2 limitations and we can talk about that. It's a great piece of magic, especially if you set it up on the tail end of something else. It is one...

Why Do People Act Like This?

I know....that's what I said. You didn't have to say that for some of us to recognize that's your situation because it's very obvious. What Toby said about working out is very good advice. What's even more important is what tokyoUW posted, not just his example about the yo-yo kid but about a...

Why Do People Act Like This?

RK - it's apparent that you're one of those kids who says they understand but never truly learn. You don't have a magic problem, you have a social problem. Why do people act like this? Easy, because they don't respect you. You use magic as a gimmick to get acceptance and attention you...

    Tonight I Failed Magic

This is a terrific thread. Toby, I don't think there was anything wrong with the type of night you had performing at the bar. You entertained, people had fun, and it didn't sound like you were the typical cheesy magician. It sounded like you broke some stereotypes for the people at the bar...

That's a terrific post on your blog, Steer. It's great real world advice.

    Matrix

You think so, eh? We all run on programs. People think that each of us are so different, but we're not. Everyone falls in a handful of buckets. We're programmed first and foremost based on things that are primal and passed down from generations..natural selection. Then we are programmed by...

    Matrix

Here is the thing about human beings that is hardly ever talked about; Everyone has a subconscious that picks up things that are not obvious or apparent. The difference between, "Oh my god, that was a great trick!!" and "He is really smooth, I love watching him" depends on the tiny little...

    Interview and Performance

Now you're starting to get it. Keep doing other things besides magic and keep performing (in the proper setting) and you're going to understand this concept more and more. Believe me, if you're still doing magic at 25 yrs old, you're going to look back and realize how different things are than...

    Matrix

Film yourself doing the coin matrix without actually stealing the coin....watch how your hands hold the cards and compare the difference with the video you just posted. The way you hold the cards when you're not stealing the coin should look the same as when you do. Hold the cards with your...
