Do you label yourself a magician?

I think it's kind of odd not to want to be called a magician... I suppose many people have their own connotations with the word, but personally, I enjoy saying I'm a magician. You're a performer that performs tricks, astonishments, magic or what have you... to the eyes of most, that's a...

Guardians = Which deck on ellusionist ?

Simply none... I think Tally's are pretty similar though.

    Double Backer Uses

Yea, I don't think sharing uses would be revealing... however, you might want to look at Garcia's "Satisfaction Gauranteed". It's an all double backers routine.

    Flourishes and Card Magic

I don't see why it's hard to do both. I mean, I play guitar and I do magic and I work on flourishes and I watch TV and I go to the movies and I'm writing a screenplay... I do each whenever I need to or please.

    Anyone here have dry thumbs?

I think you're getting a callous... There's callous remover lotion you can get at most any pharmacy.

Score! Specialty bike decks at Books A Million

I've always found that Target had a better selection of cards... though they cost a bit more. I got those White Bikes there a few months ago.

    Making the decision yourself...

I agree. The Clipshift was something I aspired to learn and it took me months to get down, but I eventually got it. However, while difficulty varies between people, practicallity and angles of tricks, I feel, are things you might want to ask others about before purchasing an effect.

    Combining Flourishing and Magic?

Flourishing and Magic are sister arts... Most everyone that Flourishes does magic too. I'm not a good flourisher, but the little I'm able to do is what gets me a crowd to perform magic.

    Recent Study Shows That...

Wayne Houchin mentioned something like this on a daily update awhile back... while some might be hecklers, others are just people who are interested and want to know or maybe think they know how tricks work. There have been times where people just say, "Oh, he's palming the card", which...

Keep cards in good condition ?

Don't spring or riffle shuffle and you should be fine... but it depends on how you like your cards. I like mine as stiff as possible, but others do not.

Anyone over 18 near the Toronto Area?

I was at morrisey's a few days ago and noticed the uncut sheets just laying around, but no one told me about the big anniversary thing going on. I personally like the Kind of Magic shop in Waterloo most as Phil and the guys there are really helpful and friendly. I know there was a big jam in...

If you do card magic: READ THIS

The Biddle Trick is a really strong trick... and that last "boring trick" is one the tricks that gets the biggest reaction for me. You're right, your performance is more important than the actual trick or the method behind the trick, but really, it's all a matter of preference. I think most...

    Fix your patter!

I think it's just a case of people not really working on their patter at all... and even then, getting in front of people becomes a different world from performing in front of a mirror. As an English Teacher, I think it's fine seeing people with poor patter... it's just a question if they...

They're first edition Split Spade Lions... different from the originals. I don't believe a second edition has been printed yet.

I don't know why this is, but black back Tally's have always lasted me longer than red or blue backs.

    Get the card to top?

Hey... I'm a big fan of the Herman pass and think it's my favourite control. It's the most natural looking pass to me, though, as someone said earlier, the spread pass is great too. The double undercut is a great move. I tend only use it though when I have more than one card selection. It...

    Senior Project

Hey... I'm a teacher so I hope I can help. Your topics all look good, but you didn't tell us what class this is for and how you're gonna be marked. Honestly though, 10 minutes is not a lot of time, and you can certainly do 10 minutes on the history of magic alone. What I think would be cool...

Looking for a DVD on sleights and basic core moves.

There really is a big difference between Visual learners and other types of learners. It's a very studied topic in Educational Psychology... I don't understand the fascination some have over the idea that reading makes you smarter than other forms of learning.
