Calen Morelli - Blink 182 Video

Ok so a couple weeks ago Calen Morelli released a video debuting a variation of his trick dresscode for Blink - 182. I realized that both Blink-182 and Calen Morelli both posted it on each of their youtube channels. And I thought it was very interesting how the comments from both videos were completely different. For example on the Blink-182 video there were all negative comments about how it was a camera trick while on Calen Morelli's channel there was all praise about the effect. This leads me to believe that laymen usually think that magicians use camera tricks when they can't figure something out due to how television magic has used camera tricks. Not saying that television magic is bad because it supports magic, but I feel that that's what most laymen will assume.

I think part of the reason laymen think this effect in particular is a camera trick is because Calen's so brilliant, they might not even know he's a magician, they're used to fakes on line, and magician's like Criss Angel continue to hack away at this art.

To put it in perspective there were plenty of magician's who thought Function 9 was going to be full of you tube magic, and that Dresscode wasn't going to be impractical. Even magicians have been skeptical of Calen's stuff in the past but each one of his projects has proven to be very above board. I know people who swore he used camera tricks in his mustache magic clip yet he explained it all later in a lecture.

I don't think they just aren't used to his genius :)

I agree with goaters and also it's just the fact that laymen will say anything to "explain" it. And it doesn't matter how illogical it is, if it's an explanation, it's an explanation.

ps. Hurray, it's my 900th post! =)

Most of the kids who post comments on videos are just that.. kids. (And that's the nicest way i can say that on here). Also, he didn't use Dresscode in that video. Feel free to roll that around in yer noggin.

It's simple...... Calen goes above and beyond with anything he does. Something of the things he has done are deemed to be impossible.

Most laypeople over think how an effect is done, hence the reason they are fooled 99% of the time. So in turn when something is seemingly too complex for them to figure out, they push it off on being camera tricks. They take themselves too seriously, it is like they are saying because THEY can't figure out it has to be camera tricks.

They try to discredit an effect like Calen's but are mystified by certain peoples levitation's...

I watched that video and it was amazing! I saw the comments also, I think most people who try to start arguments on youtube are really just immature and should be disregarded honestly.

I just thought it the major differences in comments between regular people and magicians interesting.
