Yeah I had just purchased it as well. And when I went to the download link to download it I saw that it said Card Fundamentals Vol 2 not Card Manipulations Vol 2.

Luckily I noticed the post stating the warning before I tried to download it.

I do hope they get this fixed soon. Can't wait to check this out.

My apologies to all who were having trouble downloading. There was a small glitch in the system, which means those of you who ordered before the time of this post may have received Card Fundamentals : Vol. 2 as opposed to DS's new video.

That said, shoot me a PM with your Order ID and I'll get you fixed up with the correct vid. Thanks guys!

Maybe I'm being over-analytical, but I personally think Dan's technique seems a little... messy. I contemplated keeping this to myself, but I'm not sure if he was the most qualified choice to teach card manipulations. I've seen much better. I know they're of completely different styles and backgrounds, but Lance Burton and Jeff McBride's sleight-of-hand do look more elegant and magical. I admit and apologize, I'm looking at this directly through the eyes of a magician-- but I don't think Dan makes card manipulation look artistic at all. He makes it look like meager backpalming and finger-flicking.

Although I don't personally own them, I know that Jeff McBride has a set on similar card manipulation. It's hailed as a definitive course on the subject, and if you've seen him perform manipulations live, I'm sure you can spot a major difference in quality. Many performers ranging from Michael Ammar to Eugene Burger recommend the set, so I think it's a safe supplement to what T-11 is offering in case you want some additional resources.

I can personally recommend the old card manipulation books written by Jean Hugard. They're admittedly very dry and probably won't suit those who learn better from DVDs, but for those of you with patience and determination, I'm sure you'll pick up some intangible qualities not offered in video instruction.

Granted, this opinion is solely based off what was seen on the demo. That may be unfair. I can't speak for Dan's teaching abilities, but I do express a quiet concern in the possibility of teaching sloppy technique. If it's not the case, it's not the case-- and I apologize sincerely ahead of time. I've offered some quality feedback and additional resources for anyone interested anyway.

Romeo, I know what you mean, but I think it is just a stylized difference. I mean, comparing McBride and Sperry is like comparing me to a nun...

That wasn't referring to skill, mind you, only style.

Having seen Dan perform I can attest he has a very very unique style. Not just the look, but many other aspects of his performance. His card manipulation may seem a bit haphazard, but I think it most likely fits his "hard and fast" performance style.

By the way, Dan, if you read this, none of that was meant to be a detriment to you, just talking style here.

a lot of it does come down to style, abilities, and what you are the so called "expert" at...I don't claim to be an expert on much other than how to make an orgasmic cup of coffee. Your points are well noted but comparing me to McBride is a little extreme. I studied and went to Chavez and I give full credit to my rescources in the videos including books, videos, etc. I actually give more inspiration and credit to learning my techniques the Shimada method. The anatomy of my hands and fingers allow me to do certain moves and not do certain moves. There are also moves and productions I choose not to do. My card routine that I perform in my shows is basically single card productions and split fan productions. I like to keep it simple, quick, and to the point. I actually think Chris Hart has one of the best card manip sequences ever. Its bam bam bam and over in maybe 2 minutes. Its not a whole 8 minutes of look how many ways I can produce cards. I, like Chris, do enough to hit them hard and show I can do it but then transition into something else. I've never really liked the long drawn out manip acts full of various ways of producing cards, so I stuck to the classics of cardini/shimada style single card productions and tenkai split fans which make up my card manip sequence which is in all honesty just an evolved version of a routine called "SUPER" which is part of the Chaves course.

I don't hold my hand still much because after all we are producing cards so the way I was trained was to reach to "pluck" the cards out of the air and do produce them from various places in the air etc. You get the idea. If you think this is sloppy, fast, and flalic with my arms and hands movining all around you should have seen me when I used to be Asian...

Well Dan it is a bit less "magical" to me as I prefer the look of reaching up and the card simply appearing in your hand. If you're shaking your whole arm like crazy my guess is it's probably so you don't have to be concered about flashing. But its tough to say one style is any "better" than any other since that comes down to opinion and who can say what laymen will think, but having learned from mcbride's source this seems like a regression in technique (to me)

I'll look into that and watch some more of my videos, i really didn't think i shook my hands or arms that much but rather reached and produced.

Would you please post a video of your act since I can't seem to find one? That way I can better see your style and technique and understand and compare.

Honestly Jeff is a really good friend of mine so a regerssion in technique (which is an awefuly big word I don't fully understand so I appologise if I respond incorrectly) may be again a bit extreme. I show my hand empty, produce, throw away, and reproduce. Plus I used to do this with gloves on when it was in my dove act, so a regression of technique again may be a bit extreme. But again I don't know what the word means so I'm probably responding incorectly haha. Jeff is someone I've saught advice from on several occasions and this has never come up so I appreciate the insight from another manipulator like yourself and I'll bring it up to Jeff next time we speak to make sure I'm not producing cards incorrectly or in an unmagical way which would cause a laymen to question my so called powers hahahaha. PS Merry Christmas everybody...
