I've been using Sylvester Pitch to introduce a lighter, via a sleight-of-hand production. If you're not familiar with it, it's called "the inertia pass" also, if that rings a bell. I've been using Gregory Wilson's routine called "Toll-free", which is from his "On The Spot" DVD, published by Penguin. There's also a "Sylvester Pitch", by Sylvester the Jester,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylvester_the_Jester . Wilson produces a wrist watch (which in his case, he's probably stolen from a spectator!) with misdirection of producting two coins. You could substitute other small objects. But, I steal a lighter from my pocket instead.
Another idea that comes to mind is to hold out a lighter under cover of holding a deck in mechanics grip. A la Michael Ammar's coin production in "Complete Introduction to Coin magic". (Basically just hold a coin under the deck). Do another card trick with the lighter held out. Find something simple. Hell, even do a flourish, a kick out. Or go Penn and Teller style and give away a cheesey card trick, to give misdirection to producing the lighter!
So, ok... You've got a lighter out now. What can you do? How about Jay Sankey's "In a Flash" (
http://www.sankeymagic.com/detail.aspx?ID=48025 ) where the plot is this: A quarter burns through the deck down to a signed card which has been buried in the deck. Speaking of Sankey and lighters, he's got a presentation (but no explanation) for a lighter production in "The Art of Sleight Of Hand" (which is a pretty inspiring DVD as it is), which might give you ideas.
A lighter's in my pocket, and I feel like it's wasted if I don't use it either

Have fun! I'm curious to see what everyone comes up with!
