Creating Set-Ups

Aside from culling and deck switches, do people use any mechanically easy strategies for creating set-ups on the fly FSDIU?

I try and find ways to put tricks in combinations where the first trick sets-up a small stack for the second, though this only works in certain cases and usually only with stacks of 4 or fewer cards (though there are very occasional exceptions).

Any good ruses I should think about?

John Gustaferro's Either Or is a great effect to do a set-up.

You can also do a packet trick and start by saying "I'm going to do something that just uses part of the deck" and then pick out 9 or 10 cards. Then say, "Actually, I'm only going to use five cards..." and put the remaining cards on the top of the deck.
