is it possible to do the double cross with a different color ink? I use sharpies everyday at work and interact with customers but we are only supposed to use purple because it matches our company color.

I don't think you could. The gimmick comes in black and there's a certain important part to it that can be replaced but I'm pretty sure they only make the replacements in black.
I think that's an entirely different version. I have the Double Cross gimmick and the sharpie he uses is missing an important part that makes the trick work. Same effect, different method. Very interesting though.
