Ending A Trick.

I see this to often; A magician superbly handles the cards and has great patter, then at the last moment, when they are revealing the spectators card, the flop. The card is just thrown on the table. No caress at all.

When revealing someones card it should be slow deliberate movements. Draw out flipping the card over a few seconds. Flip it so only at the very end do they see their card, or do a 'color' change to show them their card.

Don't be that lame magician with a lackluster ending.

Just some thoughts. How do you end your tricks?

It depends on the reaction I want, and how involved my audience is. Sometimes I will just throw the card on the table, other times I'll draw it out. It really depends on everything else in my performance.

Surely this all really depends on your character, where you are performing and what you are performing. If the trick is that you will shuffle the cards and then find four aces, one at a time, as quickly as possible, then pausing and slowly turning over every card is going to just completely ruin the tone and flow of the routine.

I think it's a bit of a generalisation to say the only way to make a trick better is to reveal the card slowly and mysteriously. Sometimes you want the surprise factor and that makes the trick stronger. Two card Monte is a good example, them turning their hand over and suddenly seeing two different cards is much more fun that slowly revealing them to have changed.

But like I said, depends on your character and/or the trick really
