Flyers/Posters

Hey there,
I'm looking to get my name out there a little more, so I was thinking I should hang around some flyers or posters or something.
Does anyone else here do that? If you do, what do you put on it, and how do you design it? I need a little more than business cards right now :)

EDIT: 1800 posts :D Is that an achievement?

I use posters all the time, and they work wonders.

First off, it has to be very easy to read. I tried to make mine "mysterious" at first, but that only led to getting it ignored. Post your name in very large font at the top, and underneath it, identify yourself as a performer. I usually go with, "a renowned local magician". Despite how cheesy this sounds, it does draw people in.

Secondly, people need to know that you're serious. Put some quotes from some of your most satisfied clients to better sell your act. Also, be sure to say what you specialize in; whether it be walkaround, stage, or all types of magic. Mention what types of shows you do.

Thirdly, post your contact info in huge font. If people have to look for your phone number or email, they won't bother to hire you.

Finally, make your flyer interesting. Have a neat looking background image, it should be enough to draw someone in by itself. Also, I usually put a simple puzzle on my posters - it makes the reader think, and therefore remember my contact info and consider hiring me for a show.

Just my thoughts; hope they help.
