Hofzinser Cards

Hey everyone. I bought hofzinser cards at christmas. I really like them but i can't think of anything to do with them.
Any recommendations for tricks? Thanks!

Ah well would you look at that... It's a T11 product. Guess I should probably read the news letter a little more often then.

Honestly man, I'm not sure. It looks like you can see through the cards when held up to the light. Maybe you could incorporate some kind of fake mind reading bit where you "accidently" tip the gaff to the mark by showing them the cards are see through... only to end up with a surprise kicker in the end because the card changes into something else?

This is something off the top of my head but it's pretty basic. You can force the card that is on the face of the Hofzinser card (which is on top of the deck), and have the "duplicate" card that is shown from the light right below it. Once the top card is forced by, lets say, a Classic Force or a Riffle Force, you will have their card returned on top of the duplicate and control those to the top by any method you choose. Do a double lift showing the "wrong" card and hold it up to an area of light to show that it is still the same card. Place it in their hand face down and ask them to concentrate on their card. They turn it over and it has now changed into their card. Just a little something I would use if I had the cards. Hope this somehow helps Jevonsp!

Hello there.
My dad gave me hofzinser cards a few weeks ago as a birthday present. They are awesome.
I found a book of tricks in a local store. Not sure how to find it on line though...

@CaseyRudd That is a very good idea. Just to make sure I have it right: Force the 5 of spades (example) then show the 6 of diamonds. HOld it up to the light and it illuminates the 5. Then put it back down and it is back to being the 6? something like that? I think i'll incorporate a color change into it.

Yeah, a color change would work well. do the color change so you end with the hofzinser on top and then say that the original card isn't actually gone, its inside the card.

I think I confused myself when writing it haha. If the front of your Hofzinser card is a 5 of spades, then force the 5 of spades. If the back is held up to the light and it shows a 6, then when you do the double you should be displaying the 6. Pick up the top card (hofzinser) and hold it to the light with the back facing them. It will show that it is still the 6. Place it face down in their hand and then do whatever presentation you use to make the card change into the 5. I think that wording is a bit better. Sorry for the confusion!

I use these cards for a killer effect that I am surprised no one has mentioned. I will give you a hint, it uses the 3 Hof cards, 2 none Hof cards and a gamling type of routine.

Hofzinzer Cards are awesome pieces, but not something that I think I would use. I think the best place for them would be what others have stated above me... A gambling demonstration with a kicker.

Even in the basic presentation these cards really give you a bang for your buck. For layman to have a card change in their hand without the performer touching it is really something to see.

Here is the scenario:

Halloween night, you're at a (surprise) Halloween party...working or hanging out with friends/family etc. The majority of the time these places are going to have dim lighting to set the atmosphere which is perfect for what you are going to do next.

You do a basic routine at the table to draw people in, then you pull out a miniature coffin (they do exist, just Google it) just big enough to hold a playing card. In this case a Bicycle red backed Hofzinser, with a light source shining from underneath showing a 3 of clubs.

You open the lid, letting everyone see the 3 of clubs.

You take a deck of Bicycle red backed cards and fan them out asking for a spectator to select one, they do so, you tell them to have a look, (10 of Diamonds) show it around but to not let you see it. Then you ask them to replace their card into the deck, after this is done you close the coffin lid.

You can create some patter about the Shadow people (supernatural shadow-like humanoid figures) or think up your own patter, while doing cuts, shuffles, etc....have them wave their hand over the deck to cast their own shadow over it.

Do a ribbon spread face-up showing all the cards are there...except for one, their 10 of Diamonds, in it's place is a blank-faced card.

You open the coffin lid once more showing a Bicycle Ghost backed card...you take it out of the coffin, lay it face down on the table or in their hand and turn it over slowly revealing their 10 of Diamonds.

Use them as a reveal, so take a H card and put it in a normal deck, let a spectator choose a card and then use the H card to reveal it. I'm sure you could figure out how to do this
