Hollywood & Highland Says NO to Super Heros

The LAPD has enforced a city wide ban on the long time running tradition of costume characters and super hero's that have been known to walk up and down the infamous intersection in down town Hollywood resulting in several arrests.

While the costumed performers and street artists have been allowed to suggest tips for years, without actually requesting them, a few bad eggs have ruined it for everyone with more aggressive tactics, previous criminal records, and a list of other public concerns.

This crack down on costume performers also extends to street performers as well. Musicians, jugglers, and magicians alike are all affected in this new ordnance.

Someone always has to take things too far and ruin for the majority of "nice" people who play by the rules. That stinks. Maybe street performers could get a permit by getting some type of BCI / FBI background check and submitting fingerprints. This is what a good deal of employers do when hiring.

I believe LA has a public performance permit, but I'm not positive on that. This was one of the places one could perform without a license. I think. I'm sure Draven knows better and will correct me if I'm wrong.

You do need a permit to work the streets in LA but there are certain area's like Hollywood and Highland, 3rd street promenade (Santa Monica), and Venice beach where street performers have been known to set up shop and do their thing without fear of being harassed by the cops.

Well, there goes your idea of becoming a crime fighter.

Wow...we finally get to live the movie Watchmen.

Ian

Yes. Because street performers are no longer allowed to perform without a permit in certain areas in Hollywood, the country is going to go to hell, including high increases in savage crime, corrupt politicians, lack of law enforcement, etc. causing a group of vigilantes inspired by a previous crime-fighting group to take to the streets and fight crime until the government forces that they cease from their activities until these ex-crime fighters begin to die by the hand of an unknown man.

You're totally right on that one.

I haven't been able to find one place anywhere in my area I can go to busk without getting arrested.

The illusion of freedom in this country is one of the most impressive illusions I've ever seen.

Take notes, Mr. Copperfield.

I'm surprised.

He's saying that the illusion of freedom is indeed a powerful illusion. By asking Copperfield to take notes, he's implying that he (and other magicians vicariously) can learn something about illusions from that example.
