Nah it had nothing to do with that. Y'all will probably bash me for this, but that trick isn't very hard, and within a couple hours, I had it down pat.

It was due to the fact that the people I showed it too aren't easily impressed (mom, grandparents, girlfriend etc.)

I did it yesterday and I started off just doing it for my friend Michael and then by the time I pulled out what was supposed to be his card, there were about 8 or 10 guys watching. When I changed it to his card, they flipped. When the deck changed....ohhhhh wow it was chaos they all freaked

Maybe, but show me a video of you performing and I guarantee I could tell you three things you could improve on to make your performance. There's more to magic than a trick, and there's more to a performance than the secret. I think you implicitly know this, because you nonetheless acknowledged that you might be doing something wrong. That's my point. The people who aren't easily impressed are often the people who react the strongest. You just haven't cleared their high standards yet. That's why they're not easily impressed. I have no interest in bashing you. If I want to bash anyone, I'll bash my politicians...

I would have to agree with Prae, breaking down the walls for people who've seen your magic evolve and are tougher spectators will bring out the best reactions you can get. The problem is constantly meeting and exceeding their standards. I don't show my girlfriend that much magic anymore because of this (I also don't like bombarding her with the same questions...'what'd you think?')

My mom loves magic and is amazed by everything I've shown her...she could just be really nice too. My thoughest spectator is my best friend (and go-to guy for trying out new material) because I've taught him a few secrets and he's slowly getting into performing magic. He's looking for technique, like most magicians, where most spectators get involved with the presentations. I know I've got a good, complete, trick when at the end he realized that he was so interested in what I was saying and doing that he didn't even look for a way to do it.

And Prae is being both honest and fair in his comments, he's never been one to bash somebody who's trying to become a better performer and everybody has room for improvement.

If I want to bash anyone, I'll bash my politicians...
They do a good job of bashing each other in commercials...
