My topic for today:

What is the VERY first slight/flourish/thing you do with a deck of cards or coin when you pick one up.

Cards: I usually immediately do a basic fan to get a feel for the cards, followed by closing it up and dribbling the pack back into my left hand. After that, anything... but yes, I always open up with just fanning the pack.

Coins: I always just do a basic retention (finger palm) into the "right hand". Nothing fancy yet, like a classic, or nothing as set uppy as a french drop.. just your basic run of the mill finger palm retention pass to the "right hand".

What do you other theory11 frequent forum trolls do?

When I first open a deck of cards, I do a one hand thumb fan just to see all the cards, but if its a specialty deck I've never seen before, I'll run through them to see all the faces, then I'll do a Charlier, and some revolution cuts and Sybil to see how they flourish, and throw in a shapeshifter.

That's basically it, just try to break them in really, see if they're good for what I need them to be.

Happy Holidays,

2 scenarios for the very first thing I do with a deck of cards:

1) new deck : take off the celophane wrapper

2) used deck: open the deck box

:)
