Hey everyone, when is the next junior audition at the magic castle? I think it's in September but I'm not sure what day it is.
I also have a few questions about the audition.
1) If I want the spectator to help me with an effect, do I have to tell the person in charge of the audition beforehand or can I just ask one or more person to come up and help me when I'm performing.
2) How long after the audition will I know if I pass or not?
If any of you guys have any advice, tips, or suggestions I would really appreciate it.
I'm hoping to meet anyone who's going to be at the audition!

Heya, I'm Anna, great to hear from others who want to audition.

The Castle Auditions are on September 25th. They haven't updated the sight. I be they are too lazy doing magic then to update the event times on their website. Wait…I would do that too. Haha. Well, I would arrive at noon to 12:30 because the doors open at one.

If you want to use an assistant you don't have to tell anyone. I am going to use and assistant. If you are doing close up, which I assume you are the other Juniors will be in the front row so they will be perfect assistants because they want you to do well. They are great. They will eat it all up.

You must wait 2 agonizing weeks for a letter in the mail to tell if you get in or not. I don't know how I will survive. If you get in the first word on the letter will be Congratulations then you can jump up and down and dance. If you don't get in they will give you very good pointers and you can wait until the March auditions and you will most likely get in.

***IMPORTANT TIPS:

***THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL EVER HEAR: DON'T I REPEAT DO NOT GO OVER 5 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They say give your best 5 minutes but they don't say that if you go over 5 you are out. My audition is timed to be three minutes and 50 seconds to 4 minutes and 10 seconds.

Practice, perform and record your audition. Not in front of a mirror the whole time though. It is all about being consistent. So DON'T change your routine at the last second. Have fun.

Well, she just gave you a lot of good tips. I don't live near the castle, nor do I know much about it, but try practicing in a mirror first to see where you're messing up. After a little bit, practice in front of a window. It's got a slight reflection so you won't see everything unless you're trying to, and finally end with a wall and real spectators.

And Malibu (or Anna, if I may call you that), it's spelled prestidigitation. :P

He might, he might not. But don't you have to do an audition to get into that Future Stars thing so you can perform during the week for that special week, or something?

Lucky people, you live in CA or close to the Castle so all this discussion is somewhat meaningful to you... Nothing magical goes on here in Washington DC..

Yes, there is a big audition for future stars week which is one week in the summer where juniors perform at night in all venues and are EPIC. A lot of juniors audition and I am told that only about 10 actually perform. I am not 100% on this but that's what I know. Future stars is my dream after I get into the castle and the brunch program.

I was one of the close-up performer in Future Stars this year. Ya, it's a lot of fun, and all your hard work pay off in that week. I'll definitely do it again next year.

Funny that I was at the castle this mourning, but if you're really want to, we can meet up tomorrow at the castle; I'll give you some good tips in person.

About the audition, which one are you asking about? the future stars, or the getting into the junior?
