hey guys, i'm looking into purchasing a some money effects, (not. coins.) and i was wondering which would be more applicable to my own style and skill level (get there in a minute) between Greed by Daniel Garcia or Money by Jay Noblezada

I've purchased DVD's taught by both guys, and i had no trouble learning from either of them, their both excellent.

my skill level, is somewhere between Jay Noblezadas SPONGE and Sankeys Best Collection, Sponge being almost too easy, and Sankeys Best being a little out of reach, but I'm confident i'll get there some day

my performance style is happy-go-lucky fun loving goof off silly willy. i am not the least bit mysterious, never have been never will be. i love cracking jokes, for example today i was doing a trick in church, for a childrens sermon, and a phone went off, (phone goes off in church everyone gasps, then giggles, and the phones owner is bright red) so i said ANSWER THAT!!! it could be the phone. the place erupted.

but thats the best representation i can give for how i work, oh and everything i do except stuff for my church is extreme close up, hold-a-conversation-with-the-spec type magic

and hit me up with any other Money Magic DVDs too. suggestions rule!

Jay Noblezada's DVD is alright, but most of the stuff is ripoffs of old tricks.

Joshua Jay's "Close-up Up Close" has an AMAZING Bill change that I use all the time. An impromtu version of the Slow motion Bill change, and with the bill in their hand being a foreign currency. It's genious.

Do you have Modern Coin Magic? If yes, you don't need any DVD at this time. Just learn the fundamentals first.

Of course there is the three volume set on money magic that was released in the mid-90's. While there are some coin tricks, there are some fabulous bill tricks including a few previously marketed items (permission to include these was, of course, obtained.)

There is a great short change routine where the bills chanhe value and number despite being fairly counted again and again. There is a visual bill through bill trick that is extremely clean. There is an 'in the spectator's hands' bill transposition that you can carry in your wallet and have a near self working miracle ready for the rest of your life. There are two stand up bill tricks either of which could close a show. And that's just what I remember off the top of my head.

The coin magic is also very good including an easy yet effective reverse matrix, a visual 3 phase coins through cloth routine, and one simple little pocket trick that will have people talking wherever you go.

And that just scratches the surface.

The project was fully scripted so the instruction is clear. The material was filmed at a resort in front of real people. It is a casual closeup show setting in a high end restaurant for adults. No screaming homeless people, but I assure you all of the material is strong.

Sorry, I thought I had mentioned it.

Yes, Easy to Master Money Miracles.

I was lead consultant and head writer on the project. There is a lot of good material on those DVDs.

David Roth's DVDs contain great material. You might also look at L&L's "World's Greatest" compilations for a variety of different coin and money material.

And, I suppose I'm a bit biased, but I also like Magick Balay's Four Quarters DVD on the mismade bill.

Roth's material is all coins - and the OP wanted non-coin effects.

Lonnie Chevrie has some amazing bill changes and a great handling of Mayne's Ghost Bills.

Several of the effects I would suggest are marketed items BUT were included with permission on the Ammar tapes.

Self Folding bill is powerful. Also Pryor's Impossible Dream is stunning. Check out Just Alan's handling in Genii Magazine. Real magic.

I have a routine that was privately circulated which was a bill through card effect. Very visual.

Of course there are the myriad handlings of the Grant Slo-Motion Bill trick, of which David Parr and Eugene Burger probably have the best - however don't overlook Klause's handling. It will fool those that know!

Brad I have seen others comment on homeless people screaming are you refering to David Blaine or is there another person that has done magic for homeless people?

While Blaine gets credit for being the first, my comment is directed at the current trend/belief that magic should be judged based on the reaction of people in a fictitious performance environment (i.e. In front of a tv crew in a non-commercial - i.e. street.- setting for people who are not indicative of typical performance magic consumers).

I don't care that you can make a homeless person run away from you with a card trick. Ihave seen the same thing happen when a police car pulls up.
