My Business Card

I need some help and opinions here.

I am wanting some matt laminated business cards designed and printed. I went to my local print place, and ask them and they have made a proof.

I want one which matches the same style as my website: www.stevenlevitt.co.uk

This is their effort: www.stevenlevitt.co.uk/businesscard.pdf

I personally think the design looks unprofessional, and I asked them for double sided, and it seems they have just put my logo from my website and added a couple of things and just made a one sided card.

I want these guys to print for me, as they do matt laminated card which is what I am after, however, I don't really like their design.

Any ideas, or recommendations? Please help me please, I am really after some professional designed and printed business cards.

Mine are made at overnightprints.com . They allow you to customize pretty much everything. Only problem I have with them is that theyre sipping takes forever. I paid $9 for ups ground and it took 12 days to get a tiny, 3 deck sized, package to arrive at my ouse.

Looked wicked awesome tho:D

If you asked them to do the design to match your site then they've done the job. Minus the double sided issue of course.

If I had the same brief I imagine you gave them I imagine (Not to give away to much creativity for free!:P) I would have had your logo on the front side just centered and the contact deets on the back, I would have found a better way to do it than that though.

At the end of the day they're a print shop, so the likely hood is that they're experienced enough on cs or quark or whatever to lay things for print but don't have the creativity and skill to interpret the brief correctly.

It's those skills that allow the guys at my place to charge £3k for concept design of stationary like this rather than whatever, if anything you paid the guys at the print shop.

In short, you get what you pay for - If you're on a tight budget then I'd take the guys' above advice and put something together yourself, that way you can take your time and get the right kind of feel for the card yourself. Also, if it turns out awful you haven't outlaid a load of cash for it!:P

Hmm, I agree with Dee. They did the job according to your request, although I don't think it's a very good job.

I've been in web and graphic design for over six years, I'd happily donate some time to develop a professional business card for you. (Meaning I would do it for free.)
