Hey guys, i recently purchased Believe, and i think i have the moves down pretty well.. But what kind of patter should i use? Id apprecciate if Joel Paschall himself would answer this thread...that'd be great.

Should i just copy what Joel says?
because i just saw the new Video about Daniel Madison on the media and he's saying that patter should be fluctual, and that i should create my own style and connect with the spectator...what do you think?

doesnt hurt to hope

yeah, i was hoping he would...
its just that when he says:

"i want you to believe this is your card...i know its hard, but we'll do it one piece at a time..."

to me it sounds a little wierd that he rips off one piece, changes it, and then changes the whole card even though he said we'll do it a piece at a time.

you can say something like

"small changes mean big differences"

small meaning the corner, big meanign the card.

i just thought of that, theres my 2 cents

believe patter

Gustavo, I think D+M said it well. You should interact with your audience, connect. Look at it this way for one moment in this very busy world you have someone's complete attention, what are you going to do with it? You can make them laugh, cry, hope, the possibilities are endless but you must decide. Where do you want to take them (mentally)?

Don't copy Joel. I've met Joel, seen him perform in person, and he has a very unique performing style. It's laid back, and very personal... I like it. But to be successful as a magician, you've got to come up with your own stuff. If not material-wise, then you at least have to come up with original presentations.

I myself have taken a lot of time on Believe, and came up with a script (and it got Joel's Seal of Approval! :eek), and if you'd like to take a look at it, hit me up at drew.jones@rocketmail.com. However, you've got to promise me you'll only use it to see what other magicians are doing, and not to copy from.

Hope I could help at least a little bit.

thanks

hey guys, thanks for replying here, it really is helping.
Guardian, i really like that. I think i will use it if you dont mind:D
"small changes mean big differences"

I'm thinking of just saying that, right when i do the change, then thanking the spectators after i do the change and leave. I think that will leave a bigger impact once it sinks in that small changes mean big differences...so they flip over the card and are left in shock.

i think thats the way i want to perform magic, i guess ill give it a shot. It will give me an aura of mystery (hopefully)

Joel, thanks for replying here so quickly! i recieved your pm and i guess, like you said, i want to leave an impresion on my audience, hope, leave them crying, or in shock, or laughing.

haha its hard though, i havent found my "style" of performing yet...i think im quite like Daniel Garcia, but im not too sure...

That's an awesome idea.

Say "Small changes make big differences" and change the card.
Then leave.

They'll be thinkings "errr...what?" but they're definately going to turn over the torn card, and when they do- man, you've got screaming crying laughing all in one!
