Do you have ever performed street performances? ( I'm not talking about street magic like David Blaine)If yes do you have advices?
I need a couple more tricks to add to my routine. Do you have any ideas? I am already doing the cups and balls and 2 card tricks.
(If you have other lines keep going...)
I think the rope tricks you mentioned would play well in a street atmosphere.
Sponge balls play really well, especially if you have a kid helping you (they're just so darn cute people can't resist watching).
Try searching for Gazzo's tossed out deck (pretty sure Penguin sells it). He is a legend in the busking world, anything he used will get reactions.
Also, and some people will say this isn't 'cool' or whatever, but silks play well in the street while building a crowd. Color changes, growing silks, and whatever else you might be able to get. They're usually simple and with practice can really look magical.
You probably want to have enough effects to draw a crowd, start with a card trick to get one person, then sponge balls or more cards or ropes...once the crowd starts getting bigger tell them you want to do something that everyone can see easily; go into your cups and balls. If your cups and balls is good, your tips will be good.
Also, don't get discouraged if you mess up or get nervous the first few times you try to busk, you have to build up a character that can be instantly loved enough to be given money, and that could take time. Paul Daniels said he did his chop cup routine hundreds of times before it all 'clicked'.
just some advice, feel free to pm me if you would like to talk more.
