Here is a nice short article about playing cards. There isn't much you can say about them, but it's nice to see them getting the attention once in a while. Cards deserve it!

An ordinary object in the eyes of many, a pack of cards quickly transforms into an outlet of visual art in the hands of the right magician. Cards in general have been getting enough attention as it is these past few years.
I just found this line ironic to post,especially in T11 where card tricks are all we see. Hah

I think you misunderstood my point. Of course cards are everywhere, that’s the topic of the article! However, rarely do we ever acknowledge their utility. When a magician uses cards to perform a trick otherwise unattainable, at the end of the effect it’s all about the magician, not the cards. When gamblers use cards in casinos or elsewhere, it’s all about the game, once again not the cards. With so many today using playing cards in so many ways, one would think there would be more articles simply about playing cards. Most of us are guilty of taking cards for granted; we hardly ever take a second look to think about all the wonderful activities that a deck allows us to do.

I see your point but thats the opposite of what i see nowadays.
When someone puts out a video of "magic" all I see are the cards. And fancy card movements. I dont see the magician and most of the time he isnt that interesting to watch. The only people I see that really are interesting that do card magic is cyril,blaine,and ricky jay. They have character and personality. I see magic when they perform.
But everwhere else I just see card tricks.

I guess you're right too, but most spectators still see magic, not cards.
