Richard Turner

I just got back from the Richard Turner lecture here in Washington State and all I have to say is WOW! I was amazed the entire time. He's perfect! He lectured for 2 1/2 hours along with Doug Gorman. The nicest two guys you will meet. Beyond his card handling skills, he is a very integuing story teller as well. He had stories about Vernon, Marlo, Charlie Miller and the DEAD DECK, and he even mentioned the Buck twins. What I also discovered was his admiration for Steve Forte and Jason England and how he was saying that those two were the best. He is a very humbled man.

I also had the privilege with about 5-6 other guys, to have lunch with Mr. Turner as he performed even more mind boggling moves. Words just cannot express the enjoyment and shock I experienced just feet away from the legend himself. (And still I could not see his second deal!)

What is making write this thread was when I checked this site after the lecture, I saw the new 1-1 from Jason England. And how just an hour earlier I was having dinner with one of Mr. England's own inspirations. I will cherish this time with Mr. Turner for the rest of my life.

And just another side note. As he was doing his routine of 3 card monte, he obviously asked multiple times "where do you think the queen is now!" Usually I am the quite guy just absorbing it all in, but then I thought I saw a flash. When he asked again where the queen is located, I did what I have never done before, called him out and said the top of the deck. And boy did he make me eat my words! He obvisouly made me look like a fool and proved me wrong and then used me in the rest of his routine. By the end I was $800 in the hole and he gave me the name "Big Winner." (which he signed on the DVD set I purchased.

Man, I had the greatest time. Who ever has the opportunity to see him live, even if you have to drive across state, DO IT! you will not regret it! It was $25 well spent.

Sorry for the choppy structure.

Sounds like you had a great time. You have met a true great in magic, many call him the greatest living card mechanic...and I may be one of them. I am envious but glad you had a good time. Did you learn much?

That must have been awesome! I'm still waiting for some kind of convention up here in Scandinavia or northern Europe...

Glad you had fun man! I enjoyed his Magic Castle performance in one of his DVDs, demostrations of superhuman skill, and what puts him from the rest, is that its for real!

His eye sight is a bit short too, what he's doing is sure not easy.
