I do enjoy Rudy's show but no way could i vote for a working professional on agt
i just do not think it is right for someone who has worked Las Vegas and and has had
a couple of TV shows in the running.

Also Puck is going to be on the show! He helped Scott Alexander last year and now this year he is competing. Can't wait to see it.

People this is reality TV. This late in the game they aren't competing. Vote all you want it won't matter. They are being paid (probably sag rate) to appear and spice up the show.

Though I do agree with the above, I'd never vote for Rudy. He doesn't need this. Let him have the air time for publicity sake but give the votes to someone who needs the chance to get working.

Sorry for stating what it is. Yes I think we all know that it's rigged but he's competing or "competing". What should we call it. The whole point really though was to state that Puck is also going to be on the show.

Rudy's effect was great, but it honestly as a routine it lagged and the judges let him hear it. My wife and kids were in the living room and they've seen a TON of magic acts. They didn't think it was very good either.

Then Eric Buss, who I've seen live before, comes out and does his Snake Can Finale which is cool but, again, the judges didn't really care for it. When Eric uses it as his finale to his magic show, it is definitely neat and not something anyone else has ever done. I applaud him for doing something so unique.

As a whole, many of the acts that got through due to the You Tube Voting, are horrible. Sorry if you disagree, but I'm sitting here and feel embarrassed for some of these people.

Agreed. Air guitar, worms, and eh dancing. But I learn about new people so it's fun. Never heard of the worm guy till tonight so I might check him out.

And now it's time for Puck....

Now that was good entertainment....loved it! He needs to take it up another notch. That won't play for Vegas crowds.

Surprised they didn't mention him from last year (helping Scott Alexander) but I guess it's just too minor of a detail. One thing that I agree with Draven is they are too hypocritical. They didn't like it when that one guy performed the dancing hank (badly though) but didn't mind it tonight.

All the magicians on AGT are working professionals. The singers have played on cruise ships and bars before. The comedians have worked clubs, some have performed on shows like Letterman and Leno. Most of these guys are professionals. So you can vote for a professional magician, or you can vote for a professional dancer, acrobat, or singer.

It's all scripted. From the judges reactions to what material Rudy is going to do. Everything is pre-planned out, and discussed in complete disclosure with the network producers before they even go to air. I'm willing to bet dollars to buttons that Rudy was brought on to add an additional bit of drama to the show. Unlike the rest of the acts there, I'm sure he got paid. He was probably contracted to do 1 maybe 2 appearances at most, and then take a dive. The reason why someone would do that is for the publicity.

On AGT, unless you're a finalist act, you've got exactly 90 seconds to do your bit. Now 90 seconds for magic is enough time to do three things. Productions, Manipulations, and Large scale Illusions. Which of course narrows the choices down a bit when you've got a lot of good magic out there that 90 seconds won't even begin to cover the set up time. The producers want pop, flare, flash and go. There just isn't many acts out there that aren't the Burtons, Angels, Copperfields, etc that can pull that kind of stuff off. Other talents, such as singers, comedians, jugglers, dancers, acrobats, etc can do so much more in 90 seconds than a magician. This is the very reason why we will never win on AGT. That and the producers have a nasty reputation for not liking magicians, something that their production assistants will tell you is a lie they are desperately trying to fix... by you know... hiring Vegas level acts to do one or two segments on the show to add flavor before getting "voted" off.

Back in Time
The problem with Rudy's act is that his whole puppet boy thing doesn't work in just 90 seconds. It's one of those effects that works wonders when he does during HIS show and within the context and timing of HIS show. Because everything going on makes sense (sort of) in a way when he's doing his TV specials and own stage shows.

A 90 second act doesn't always work that well. It may have helped Kevin James and wowed the judges but really in the long run most of these Magicians (baring the ones that really suck) are usually scripted and told what to do by the producers.
