Call me a snob, but I'm not exactly a fan of magic in montage format. It might be nice for a brief moment of vanity, but between the MTV-style cutting and the generic electronic music the original video just felt really underwhelming. Even the really good ones never got a chance to shine because they were only on camera for a couple of seconds and we don't get to see even a sliver of their personalities.
I seem to be in the minority on this one, but I don't want to see more tricks, I want to see more people. The original mashup as it is had a pretty poor ratio of faces to tight-close-up-on-some-teenager's-hands. From a business perspective I get the logic. But I'm not entirely certain it accomplished the things it needed to as opposed to accomplishing things that made people feel good about themselves for a few minutes before something else got their attention.
So... no. I really don't think we need another one of these.
