Dan Hauss
"In this effect the spectator is shown a queen of spades that can be thoroughly examined. She is asked to place her hand over the queen and imagine her going to sleep. When she removes her hand, seconds later, the queen is sleeping! The magician waves his hand over the deck and the queen begins to wake up from her sleep. This happens slowly and the spectator sees the eyes gradually open. At the end of the effect the spectator can keep the card as a souvenir."
Sleeping Queen

Method:
Like all of Dan Hauss' effects the method is great and very clever.

Gimmick:
This effect does involve a gimmick, but once you have it with you, you are all set to go. I could not find my gimmick in the stores I went to so I must special order mine online, and the gimmick is cheap.

Set-up:
The set-up takes about 15 seconds, the only downfall here is that you must perform the effect with-in about a 30 minute time period, of the set-up.

Practicality:
The effect is super practical, and is very easy to perform in front of a spectator.

Teaching:
Nothing wrong here everything is gone over in great detail.

Quality:
The quality of the video is top-notch.

Reactions:
I am yet to try this out on spectators because of the fact that I do not have the gimmick yet, but once I purchase my gimmick, I will have a live performance of the effect up. I don't see why this effect would not get amazing reactions.

Bonus:
The Download/DVD has 2 great bonuses, they are both gum effects which are practical, easy, and hard-hitting.

Rewrapped:

This effect:
- You offer the spectator a piece of gum from an opened gum pack
- You show them the pack and then with a shake the pack rewraps itself instantaneously
- You then open up the pack again to show everything is clean

Method:
The method is very clean and to the point

Gimmick:
The gimmick is very clever and will take some time making it, you must remake the gimmick each time you do the effect, that is the only downfall to this effect.

Set-up:
Once you have made the gimmick you are set-up

Practicality:
The effect is very practical, and easily performed in front of spectators because you don't do anything that is not natural.

Teaching:
Nothing is left out here.

Reactions:
I have done this effect once and the reactions are very hard-hitting.

Bonus # 2 / Gum through wrapper:

The Effect:
-A pack of gum is showed from all sides
-Put the deck in your hand
-With a little shake a piece of gum penetrates the pack
- You then open the pack to prove that there is now a piece of gum missing

Method:
Well thought out.

Gimmick:
This is amazing, the gimmick is just so well thought out.

Set-up:
This will only take about 2 seconds to get into "position."

Teaching:
Nothing is left out.

Practicality:
The practicality on this effect is great, there is nothing not natural, everything is motivated and you do not do any funny moves.

Reactions:
I have not done this effect live yet but because of the visualness of the effect, this WILL get great reactions, as long as it is performed and well and the technique is there.

Practice:
This effect will take some time to get it to look right but once you have it down, you are good to go.

EVERYTHING:

Overall:
These effects are great to add to your collection of effects because all 3 of these effects are highly visual and very practical.

That seems like a good deal, but a magician friend of mine bought this and said it wasn't that great. The gimmick is something you add to the cards, correct?

It is definately a great deal, this effect is great I just bought the gimmick and tried it out and holy cow this looks even more visual in person. I don't really understand what you mean by adding to the cards, so clarify that for me.
Thank You

Also, one thing I would like to mention is that, I was not able to find the gimmick in any stores so I went online and was about to purchase it, but then I decided to run to Michael's Arts and Crafts Store to see if they had the gimmick and sure enough they did. If anybody that reads this already owns the effect and is looking for the gimmick, if you have a local Michael's go there and you should find it.
Hope this helps

It would be nice to post your thoughts AFTER you perform the trick, otherwise its not much use.. I own the trick, dont use it because of issues that came up with the gimmick. Please learn the trick and try it out before you give your thoughts.

ive performed this for many a person, and with the right management i have gotten shocks and awe's from this trick. it is SUPEr easy and set up time is a min or 2. and you can carry the gimmick in your pocket. and yea you can find it in micheals or joannes (just ask around/ look) and it is very neat little trick

Yes, mt style in live performances is mostly winging it, and I get great reactions, so if you are going to complain go right ahead , please.
- Donald

How is that a style? It's more like not being prepared.

I hope you practice the handling and wing the performance aspect...I don't approve but don't feel like arguing against it right now.

As for the effect, it does kill. It's very simple in method and handling and Dan Haus goes over everything to make it as simple as can be. The reactions are more of the silent 'awe' factor, and not the 'freak out' most people strive for. I personally prefer this over most 'freak out' effects I preform.

Yes Dan Hauss goes over everything very well, and yes I always practice the effect until perfected, but for performance I do not worry about that much, as I am a confident preformer.

I have this trick but I'm still working on it. Without giving away the secret, I keep "hurting the queen". (Those of you who have the trick will understand).

I hope you practice the handling and wing the performance aspect...I don't approve but don't feel like arguing against it right now.

That's what I do. I practice the handling and wing the performance myself. It depends on my audience and what kind of feeling I get from them.

I used to do comedy improv waaay back when I just got out of college so I am much more comfortable having a guideline of what I'm going to do.
