Solution For Sweaty Hands

So today I was at work and I had just been on trash duty so I went into the restroom to give my hands a scrub down. Now, i work in a grocery store and I wouldn't want people with nasty hands to touch my food so I always wash for a while. Well, today I had some really nasty grease, no... crap...no...Well, whatever it was it was stuck to my hands and so i decided to use the Birthday scrub down method. You know??? You keep scrubbing the soap on while you sing the happy birthday song twice. (Don't worry. I sang in my head. It would be sketchy o customers if they walked in and there was an employee scrubbing his hands and yelling "Happy Birthday To Me!!!!")

So, I stopped and realized my hands were drier than ever before. So, I just kept it in my mind for the next hour and at the end of that hour realized that they were still totally dry and I get really sweaty palms. but this time...nothing. so, when i got home I repeated the expiriment only to nitice that my hands stayed dry for an hour and a half.

So here is what to do:

1: Locate some liquid soap and a sink, tub, water pump, watering hole, a puddle, a pool, or something of that nature.

2: Now wet your hands and apply a TON of soap. (Actually, just about 4-5 drops will do.)

3: Now scrub them. DO NOT RINSE YET!!!

4: while scrubbing sing: "Happy Birthday To Me. Happy Birthday To Me. Happy Birthday Dear Me. Happy Birthday To Me."! Sing it twice. (Sing it aloud or in your head. whichever floats your boat.

5: After singing the song two times through rinse your hands. While rinsing keep scrubbing until no more suds are coming off of your hands and they don't feel slippery.

6: Now, dry with either a dry towel or paper towels. Or your friends shirt!!!

Try this out and tell me what happens!!!

I know. But it seems that because that that thread got so long no one will realy read all sugestions to the last page. So I figured by making this thread more people would read it because honestly, in most threads do you read the firs post or the fifty second post.

Dylan has a point "AZ" Who really does read the other posts? I mean i'm sure some people do but not the majority. And as far as the scrubbing thing it does work. I dont naturally have sweaty hands but my friend does and i told him about it and he said that it worked for him. The only problem he had was that he felt like he had an OCD from having to scrub his hands for so long lol. He told me to tell you thanks.

Tell him no problem. Glad to help. It does feel silly to scrub that long but like I said I have to because I work in a grocery store. But put it this way, even though he may feel silly scrubbing, at least after he'll be good to go for an hour or two.

True, maybe now he wont get so nervous about talking to girls lol.

Yeah, I'm surprised more people don't already do this. I've read in numerous magic books that it's essential that you wash your hands before you handle them, if you would like to keep them from getting all gross and stuff so they'll last longer. Weird how it's still a new discovery. o_O

Did you just explain how to wash your hands to people? Of course washing your hands will get rid of sweaty hands.
This is common knowledge. It's the same thing as taking a shower when you've been working and you get all sweaty.

Do you have words of wisdom for people who have dry hands?
Use hand lotion? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . GENIUS!

Seriously?

Haha, despite Danny Tripi's (inside joke.... although that really is his last name) obvious sarcasm, I agree with him. Soap removes dirt and oils from hands. I never knew it originally had another purpose.:p

All because Doug decided to say my last name is this forum for everybody to know me now, I'm deciding to point out all mistakes by Doug to retaliate.
One of Doug's pet peeves is grammar, so here you go Doug:
I never it originally had another purpose.:p

Did Doug actually make a sentence that didn't make sense?
What does that mean Doug?!?!?

That's 1 . . . and counting.
Lol.;)

I think you guys misunderstood Dylan. I have the same problem. Ofcourse washing your hands gets them dry, but mine (maybe Dylans to) gets sweaty again in just a couple of minutes. Not that great when your working with cards. But if I wash my hands for a VERY long time, they stay dry alot longer :)

This may be true that we all know that washing your hands does dry them out and clean them up. But if so, then why the hell do I still see threads from people who are looking for solutions for sweaty hands.

I'm not gonna lie, you bring up a valid point. Ha.

Okay - two sincere pieces of advice - one you may listen too, the other you may ignore or get upset about.

If your hands are sweaty, you are nervous - try using talcum powder or maybe spray an antiperspirant on your palms (I have never tried the latter, but it should work in theory). This is the part that might upset you:'

When I first started magic...I was SO nervous...I would sweat and sweat...so much I would drip from my nose. I still have that issue under my arms on hot days, and have tried stuff for that...yes, even clinical strength - I find shirts that breathe work...anyhow, when your palms are sweating...I just worked through it, use a pant leg to rub it off, and went through a few extra decks - eventually, the sweat went away...eventually meaning, a week or two of constant performing.

That being said: If you have sweaty palms - you may not be ready for performance - you are too worried about making a mistake. Work through it, or practice so much that your confidence level is higher than your nerves. A mixture of both may be the key.
