I have been in magic for three years now and perform close-up and street magic, I favorite in card magic. But I realized I don't really know any stage magic or any large effects. So, if anyone has anythings that they would especially recomend. I am looking for any stage magic or excessivly awesome street magic, toss out some ideas for me it is greatly appreciated, thanks.

We're in the same boat, as I recently decided to take this up. Four books you need to get are:

Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic
Magic the Complete Course - Joshua Jay
The Practical Encyclopedia of Magic - Nicholas Einhorn
200 Magical Illusions - Nicholas Einhorn

These have great effects, such as a hand twister, Snowstorm in China, Metamorphosis, Victory Cartons, and more. Plus, each book explains some of the best tricks in all areas of magic. David Stone's Real Secrets of Magic are also great for this. I'm getting Vol. 1 soon hopefully.

Stage magic is a great artform and very under appreciated nowadays. However, there is more to it than tricks you can just buy. They won't give you the engagin performance skills and theater you need to succeed.

Look up Maximum Entertainment by Ken Weber. Also,
Foundations : The Art of Stage Magic by Eberhard Riese.

I suggest learn some BASIC theater liie blocking and movemrnt. Also make-up and maybe a just a dash of pantomime.

If you're used to close up card sleights, try learning card manipulation. It's great for stage, and very entertaining and all you need is some manipulation cards.

Cheers
