So recently me and my friend have been collaborating on the idea of two person magic tricks. We have come up with some pretty good stuff so far, and i was just wondering on your opinions. Do you think its a good idea to have two people working together? sort of like two magicians for one trick. What we have so far, is: Card to Shoe times 2,( Two people pick a card, we both end up with a spectators card in our shoe kinda thing), one where a card is selected, i spring the cards in the air, he throws a pencil and pierces their card, another where cards kinda jump between our wallets and such, and one where he grabs a selected card out of a spring (performance here > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of1etl9eV8E) We were thinking of putting them all into a wire download for cheap once we have perfected and tested them. What do you think, is it a good idea? would you be interested in buying it?

This style of act isn't all that new and it can work well so long as the two of you learn how to play off one another; study the old comedy teams like Abbott & Costello, Laurel & Hardy, Conway & Korman, etc. Decide which of the two of you will be playing the "straight" side with things and which one is the "bumbler" so to speak. . . the one that causes or reacts most dramatically to the punch lines. . . (mirroring one another will get old fast, I'd save that for the finale of the program i.e. after so much goes wrong for the one partner, you finally get a big hit together).

Study comedy not magic that's the best thing you could do at this point. Then get with someone that can help you script things out and create a cohesive package.

I really like what he said here. So many young/new performers lean really heavily on the magic aspect, but magic is best used as a vehicle for a supportive art form like comedy, storytelling, or sometimes even dance. Doing magic is kind of like having live-performance special effects. You can make an act that showcases the effects and how spectacular they are, or you can use the effects to add artistry and surprise to an actual story that you're trying to tell.

Craig is spot on. You need 2 defining characters that play off of each other. It's even better if your appearances are quite contrasting as well. Example: Big Chuck and Little John
I think you have a great idea and it could go well for you guys. Also, don't try to steal each other's spotlight unless it is part of the comedy act...like trying to one up each other. Good luck with this.
