Hey Theory 11,
I just bought the VCR change taught by Apollo Robbins and I must admit that the move is very slick, fluid and visual.
However, out of 10 I would only give it a 5 or 6 as it is incredibly angle sensitive and one of the sleights (which you should hopefully see if you were to purchase it) is very difficult to master. I personally don't think that I shall use it much when it comes to shows or group effects however I may use it 1 on 1 or at the most to 2 people.
My views on Apollo's teaching are not great. He didn't cover the sleights that well :( and he also didn't fully teach the trick. He also has a very bad habit of pausing for long periods of time :p
All in all I would give this effect a 5/10 and I wasn't entierly pleased, however if you master it then it can be a great 1 on 1 effect
Thanks
Josh

Glad to hear your thoughts! Just a note - this move is rated at intermediate, not beginner. We never claimed it would be easy to master, as is evident in the ability level we chose to place it under. Angle sensitivity is a factor, but this is discussed at length in the 1-on-1. Certainly not a reason to brush this move aside.

Further, it's over eight minutes of very, very detailed instruction (shot in HD, mind you - so quality is obviously not a factor ;)) - I personally had no trouble following along with Apollo.

That said, we do appreciate these reviews - as they aid others in determining whether or not others should make the plunge. Just thought I'd chime in with my thoughts.

I didn't care for the move in general, not a fan of extremely angle sensitive moves.

But I thought Apollo's teaching was fine.
